I should have been born with my fingers permanently glued to a keyboard. Since I was five, I've known that I want to be a professional writer: a journalist, a novelist, a modern-day Shakespeare, maybe. In my freshman year I tried to figure out what A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tragedy of Julius Caesar were about. Macbeth was much easier to understand in my sophomore year (大二年級).
However, I'm practically addicted_to books, whether I'm reading or writing them. I can't go a single day without writing something. I have made it a rule to pick up a pen and just let my thoughts out every day.
I can be inspired by anything: an expression, a song and a movie. Once I get_inspired,_it's like the wheels turning faster and faster as I think out one possible story after another.
My family is so widespread that whenever I meet with a cousin or an aunt I only vaguely (模糊地) remember; I tell him or her I'm a writer because I know it will distinguish me from all the other kids in the family and make me memorable. I told my relatives about the stories I used to write as a child, the projects I'm working on now, and why I'm working so hard to make_a_breakthrough in the competitive world of publishing. One aunt hugged me and told me, “Just don't forget about the rest of us when you become the next J.K. Rowling.”
Smiling, I replied, “Don't worry, I won't.” I am confident that I will become the next J.K. Rowling. I have the ambition,_the means, and the talent. My English and history teachers don't praise my writing and tell me I have an innate(與生俱來的) writing talent even though they know how passionate I am about writing, and how that passion slips through my fingertips to the paper.
注意:1.所續(xù)寫短文的詞數(shù)應(yīng)為150左右;
2.至少使用5個短文中標(biāo)有下劃線的關(guān)鍵詞語;
3.續(xù)寫部分分為兩段,每段的開頭語已為你寫好;

2.Paragraph 2:Maybe I just want to leave my mark on the world since I can't sing to create a great work of art.
Paragraph 1:

I_always_feel_that_there_is_something_in_my_mind_about_putting_a_story_down_on_paper_for_friends_across_the_globe_to_read_and_understand,_and_about_finding_just_the_right_words_to_describe_what_I_can_see_so_clearly_in_my_head,_which_attracts_me_like_a_beautiful_song.
Paragraph 1:
I don't really know why I love writing so much. I just do. I always feel that there is something in my mind about putting a story down on paper for friends across the globe to read and understand,_and about finding just the right words to describe what I can see so clearly in my head, which attracts me like a beautiful song. Writing makes me who I am. Through writing I have found true happiness.
Paragraph 2:
Maybe I just want to leave my mark on the world since I can't sing to create a great work of art.
[1]It's never been easier to find vacant jobs or to apply for them nowadays.“With technology, it's much easier,” says Dennis Masel, chief operating officer of a US staffing agency. Mr. Masel says PDF files, mobile devices and fast Internet have changed the way he works. “I used to personally send my resumes (簡歷) to a client's office,” he says. “Now I can send an application to a client within seconds via the Internet.”
[2]Some companies have developed their own mobile apps to simplify the process. Job seekers can post their resumes online and apply for posts with a single mouse click. And it is not only computers but also mobile phones. However, some employers do not follow up on the applications they receive. It results in candidates becoming disillusioned and less inclined to click on new jobs.Dennis Masel says three steps can help you stand out.
[3]First, he advises candidates to reach out to online networking connections at the company where you want to work. “By making a personal connection, you could essentially make your application stand out and get noticed by people.”
[4]Second, he says, you must react quickly when you see a job you want. “For every position that you are interested in, you have to imagine that thousands of job-seekers are all coming after the same position. You've got to be quick. Sometimes positions are filled within the span of hours.”
[5]Third, use email notices on job listing sites and choose to get only the ones you want.
[6]“I absolutely love email notices because I can get exactly the jobs that interest me, and it's really easy for me to basically in,” he says. “Put keywords in, such as the location you want to search and your experience, and get exactly what you want.”
1.According to Paragraph 1, people nowadays change the way they work NOT because of __________.
A.fast Internet B.PDF files
C.resume D.technology
Masel says PDF files, mobile devices and fast Internet have changed the way he works.”
2.The underlined word “disillusioned” in Paragraph 2 probably means “__________”.
A.desperate B.encouraged
C.a(chǎn)nxious D.interested
根據(jù)第二段的“some employers do not follow up on the applications”和畫線部分后面的“l(fā)ess inclined to click on new jobs”可知,一些雇主并不會深入地看完申請,所以申請人會沮喪,故選A。
3.What can we infer from this passage?
A.Every position is filled within the span of hours.
B.Email notices will play important roles in job hunting.
C.Mobile phones will take the place of computers in job seeking.
D.Employers do not acknowledge the applications they receive online.

B.a(chǎn)nalyze the cause of failure in job hunting
C.introduce some currently popular high-tech tools
D.offer readers some useful advice about job hunting
當(dāng)文章中出現(xiàn)so, for, because, therefore, thus, as a result, consequently, due to, on account of, result in等表示原因或結(jié)果的詞語時,上下文之間為因果關(guān)系,可以由原因推測結(jié)果,也可由結(jié)果推測原因,故可以根據(jù)這種因果關(guān)系推測生詞或短語在語境中的意義。
However, some employers do not follow up on the applications they receive. It disillusioned and less inclined to click on new jobs.
由result in可知前后為因果關(guān)系,“有些雇主不深入地看完他們收到的申請”為原因,由此可以判斷畫線詞應(yīng)該和less inclined to click on new jobs并列作為導(dǎo)致的結(jié)果,故選項(xiàng)A正確。

After shopping for deals in stores on “Black Friday”, or online on “Cyber Monday”, Americans and people worldwide are preparing for newly popular “Giving Tuesday”. Starting in 2012, now the global event that is celebrated annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is the brainchild of 92nd Street Y, a cultural center in New York City and the United Nations Foundation.
As the name indicates,“Giving Tuesday” is meant to restart the charitable season and therefore observed by raising funds for local nonprofits and schools, organizing food and clothing drives, and conducting random acts of kindness. In 2015, 700,000 people from 71 countries came together to donate $116.7 million in cash. An additional $1.08 million was spent on gifts.
While the easiest way to participate is by donating to your favorite charity, this day can be celebrated in many other ways too. You can give back by volunteering at your local shelter or food bank, or even by donating blood. If all else fails, a purchase from the growing number of organizations that give a portion of their sales to charity will do the trick.
But perhaps the best way to celebrate the day is by helping those nearest and dearest to you. Assist a family member with a simple chore like folding laundry, cooking dinner, or even reading to a younger sibling. No matter what you do, be sure to share your good deed on social media and inspire others to celebrate “Giving Tuesday” as well!

Your career is the sum of your life and work. It includes all your activities and experiences. Your schooling, your volunteer work, and even your relationships with your family are all big parts of your career.__2__
During your career, you will have a variety of jobs, occupations and roles. People used to think of a job as full-time, permanent, paid work done for an employer at a work site. But in our changing world, a job is a set of duties or tasks. It can be paid or unpaid.__3__ Even someone who is self-employed has a job.
An occupation is a group of jobs with similar responsibilities that require a common set of skills.__4__ Programmers may have permanent or temporary jobs working for specific employers, be self-employed, work full-time or part-time, be paid for their work or volunteer their services. They may change jobs or hold several jobs at one time but, until they change the type of duties or tasks they perform, they are still computer programmers.
__5__ We all play a number of roles in our lives and our roles often change over time. For example, Kris works four days a week as a receptionist in a clinic and takes evening courses in social work. She also sews gymnastic wear for her neighbor who sells it at summer markets. Now Kris has at least three roles.
A.A role is a part you play.
B.Actually everyone has a career.
C.In other words, your career is your life story.
D.For example, a computer programmer is an occupation.
E.As a matter of fact, a job is different from a role in some way.

It was an Art lesson. Rachel sat at the desk watching her classmates preparing the water jars and paints. She understood why Mrs.Weston asked her to sit down and got Lisa to fetch everything for her. It was always a disaster when Rachel tried to do Art!
Rachel sighed and reached out to dip her brush in some black paint and — oh, no! She knocked over the jar. The water spread across the desk and drowned the paper. Lisa called Mrs. Weston to see what Rachel had done. Rachel went red in the face. She jumped to her feet to get a cloth. Her chair fell over backwards. She turned round and her paintbrush caught Lisa across the face, giving her a black moustache. Lisa was so surprised that she fell back against a wire bookstand. It came crashing down and the books went all over the floor.
How clumsy! Rachel thought as she went home on the bus. The bus stopped outside her house. She jumped up and her elbow (肘部) knocked a woman's hat right over her eyes. Oh, no! Rachel said sorry, got off and ran indoors. Mum wasn't in the kitchen but lay in bed as she caught an awful cold. Rachel offered to make a cup of tea but Mum would rather wait for Dad. Rachel sighed. She understood Mum was afraid she would spill (灑出) it.
“But would you go to Mrs.Willow for some cold cures?” asked Mum. Rachel turned to the door at once. “But Rachel, Mrs.Willow's house is full of beautiful things, so if she asks you to come in, you'd better say no.” Rachel sighed and ran out.
Mrs.Willow was an old lady with white hair and sharp_blue_eyes living in an old house. She opened the door and invited Rachel in. Rachel said why she came and that she preferred to wait outside remembering her mother's warning. Mrs.Willow insisted Rachel come inside. Rachel took a deep breath and stepped in. She looked round Mrs.Willow's sitting room and saw at once why Mum had been worried.

Paragraph 1:
There were beautiful things everywhere — pretty china figures and delicate vases. Rachel stood very still, afraid of knocking something over. Mrs.Willow handed Rachel a small brown bottle of cold cure. Rachel couldn't wait to get away, feeling any minute there would be a disaster. She thanked her and turned to the door when something brushed against her leg. Rachel was so surprised that she jumped backwards. It was a cat! But her elbow hit a vase and it fell to the floor, broken. How awkward!
Paragraph 2:
With a smile Mrs.Willow comforted her saying it had been broken before. Rachel sighed and stared at her. “I did, when I was young. You couldn't have been as clumsy as I was,” Willow said, her sharp_blue_eyes shining. “Keep telling yourself you can manage it and it will work.” Rachel doubtfully said that several times. After they cleared up the vase, they drank tea from china cups and ate cakes off delicate plates and Rachel didn't break another thing. It was a kind of magic. Rachel smiled.
