With sunlight flding thrugh the windw, I was sitting at the kitchen table, enjying the breakfast with my sn, ur cat, Rsie, rubbing itself against my sn’s legs frm time t time. After assigning my sn what he wuld d in the mrning, I als engaged myself in my wrk. Hwever, within nly minutes I culd hear my sn jumping arund and laughing, ding wh-knws-what but certainly nt his schlwrk. “Stp playing and get yur schlwrk dne!” I yelled frm my rm where I was wrking. There was cmplete quiet fr a while, and then the nise started up again.
“What are yu ding? I shuted.” Yu knw yu can’t have a break until the schlwrk is dne!” As a single mm wrking frm hme and hme-schling my sn, I had t finish my wrk each day and help my sn gain knwledge and frm a gd learning habit.
“Rsie stle my pencil, Mmmy! I can’t d my schlwrk!” The respnse came in a vice that sunded as thugh he surely didn’t mind having a pencil stlen. With a sigh, I pulled myself away frm wrk and entered my sn’s rm. There I saw ur cat, Rsie, sitting n the desk with the pencil between her feet. She threw it and bit it, and then sat right n my sn’s bks. I walked up t the desk and remved her frm it.
This had becme the nrm. Rsie ften disturbed my sn. They were gd friends and my sn never minded Rsie disturbing him. Each time Rsie caused truble, I wanted t lck her inside the bathrm. But when seeing hw my lnely sn, wh was shy, hmeschled and had few friends, enjyed Rsie’s cmpany, I abandned the idea.
That day, I finally made a rule after trying t remve Rsie frm the desk fr the millinth time. “If yu fcus n yur wrk and dn’t let her distract yu, she can stay n the desk. Otherwise, I’ll lck her in the bathrm,” I tld my sn. Then I mved Rsie ff his bks and nt the side f the desk, making her lie dwn.

It was s frightened that it jumped int Lenny’s arms and clung n t him with its tiny claws. The little cat wasn’t afraid f him. The pr thing was very thin and had prbably been taken away frm its mther nly recently.
My husband wasn’t a great cat lver. He did nt feel they shuld be husehld pets. Our tw daughters had a different perspective as they had recently gt anther kitten frm a lcal farmer. Even thugh he didn’t like cats, he knew he culdn’t leave this cat in the shebx. It wuld prbably be eaten by a fx.
