本課時的話題是高中的第一天，包括 Starting ut和Understanding ideas兩部分。Starting ut是熱身部分，通過觀看視頻、完成課本第一頁的問卷調(diào)查，讓學(xué)生初步了解高中生活，并通過問卷調(diào)查的形式了解學(xué)生對高中的印象。Understanding ideas部分是一位高中新生到新學(xué)校第一天的感受和見聞，具體介紹高中新生第一天到校觀察和接觸到的人和事物及個人的感受，內(nèi)容緊密結(jié)合學(xué)生現(xiàn)實生活，著重培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的閱讀能力。通過文章的閱讀學(xué)習(xí)，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生熱愛新學(xué)校、新班級的情感，鼓勵學(xué)生積極參與各種英語活動，與老師、同學(xué)友好相處。
課時目標(biāo)：
1.掌握本課時的重點詞匯 senir, curius, impressin, campus, traditin, facility, mment, authr, eagerness, explre, engine, insect, rganise, breathe, challenge, pressure, calm, descriptin, cnfident和短語 ne by ne, butterflies in ne’s stmach, in panic。學(xué)習(xí)詞匯和語法知識是發(fā)展語言能力素養(yǎng)的途徑，而不是最終的目的。
2.培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的閱讀能力，訓(xùn)練學(xué)生的閱讀速度、查讀的閱讀技巧；同時培養(yǎng)學(xué)生學(xué)會找主題句，歸納文章主旨，運用想象、聯(lián)想，學(xué)會用英語思考的能力。這些思維品質(zhì)主要體現(xiàn)了學(xué)生的心智發(fā)展特征以及水平，有助于提升學(xué)生分析問題、解決問題的能力。
3.培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的文化意識和正確的價值取向，從開學(xué)第一天認(rèn)識、了解校園以及老師、同學(xué)，進而熱愛自己的學(xué)校，并努力學(xué)習(xí)實現(xiàn)自己的目標(biāo)。這是實現(xiàn)從修養(yǎng)到行為的內(nèi)化、提升和養(yǎng)成的過程。在這個基礎(chǔ)之上，使語言教育和學(xué)習(xí)能夠內(nèi)化于心、外化于形，使知行統(tǒng)一起來。

做好該部分內(nèi)容的PPT以及音頻素材（詞匯、“My First Day at Senir high”相關(guān)視頻材料），并錄制自己學(xué)校的概貌、建筑、校園文化等短視頻材料。
學(xué)生準(zhǔn)備：
1.用英語簡要概括自己對學(xué)校的第一印象，包括校園、環(huán)境、教師、設(shè)備、同學(xué)等。
2.提前在網(wǎng)上查找資料，了解英美國家的高中學(xué)校生活，擴大知識面。
教學(xué)過程：
Step I Lead-in & Warm up
1. The teacher welcmes the students and shws them the vide f the schl (It is prepared in advance f class). As playing the vide, the teacher can give a brief intrductin t every part.
2. The teacher guides the whle class with questin, such as:
What’s yur impressin f ur schl?
Which subject d yu like best?
What d yu like best f ur schl?
3. Ask the students t answer individually and then the teacher cllects answers.
Step II Starting ut
The teacher guides the students t lk thrugh the questinnaire.
The students cmplete the questinnaire and share answers with ther students.
Step III Reading
1. Pre-reading.
The teacher asks the questin “If yu are t write abut yur first day at senir high, what will yu mentin? Hw?” and the students may give varius answers.
2. While-reading.
(1) Fast reading.
Let the students read fast and try t figure ut main clue f the passage. Ask the students t put the wing in crrect rder.

Activity 3是提煉文章要點，學(xué)會對比分析。第一個表述He fund the English class difficult and was nt sure what t d.與原文不符，學(xué)生們都做了自我介紹，作者也不例外，因此并不是英語課太難，作者無所適從，可排除掉。第二個表述干擾性很強，有些學(xué)生會誤選，但其中 he thught senir high was easy與倒數(shù)第二段的描述不符，也可排除。故選第三個表述，精準(zhǔn)概括，展望未來，充滿信心。
Activity 4是通過“去學(xué)校之前”“到學(xué)校后”“英語課上”以及“英語課后”四個階段中作者的體驗和感受，屬于高級能力的考查。學(xué)生只有真正理解了文章，并用時間線索串聯(lián)，才能概括文章要義。
【設(shè)計意圖】通過做題，檢查學(xué)生對文章的理解程度同時培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的比較能力和概括能力。

1.總結(jié)本節(jié)課的內(nèi)容，并采用提綱式記筆記的方式，讓學(xué)生將課堂要點記錄下來，及時總結(jié)、復(fù)習(xí)。
2.詢問學(xué)生開學(xué)第一天的見聞、感受，并與全班同學(xué)分享，鍛煉學(xué)生的口頭表達能力和概述能力。
3.分析諺語“Well begun, half dne.”的含義—做事能有個良好的開端，成功就有一半的把握，并鼓勵學(xué)生打好基礎(chǔ)很關(guān)鍵，以良好的面貌和心態(tài)迎接新生活，正確對待學(xué)習(xí)、生活中遇到的問題。
【設(shè)計意圖】高中英語教學(xué)除了要讓學(xué)生學(xué)會英語基礎(chǔ)知識外，還要培養(yǎng)他們的道德情感、英語思維能力、刻苦學(xué)習(xí)的意識及文化底蘊等。通過英語教學(xué)培養(yǎng)和提升學(xué)生的英語核心素養(yǎng)，激發(fā)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)英語的內(nèi)在動力，提高英語教學(xué)的效果和質(zhì)量。
