本課時的話題是簡介四部有關(guān)自然災(zāi)害的影片和極熱天氣，包括 Starting ut和 Understanding ideas兩部分。
Starting ut是導入部分，通過觀看視頻和影片海報，了解電影內(nèi)容提要以及震撼的場景。（1）《后天》：美國氣候?qū)W家杰克認為，溫室效應(yīng)正在引發(fā)地球的大災(zāi)難，北極冰川的融化，會讓地球回到冰河世紀那樣的劫難，他的提醒并沒有引起美國當局的重視，一切都已經(jīng)太晚：颶風、冰雹、洪水、冰山融化、極度嚴寒，一系列的地球巨變引發(fā)了一場不可挽救的災(zāi)難。美國政府組織北緯30度的民眾轉(zhuǎn)移到赤道周圍，場面一片混亂，更糟糕的是，杰克的兒子，正困在曼哈頓的圖書館里，靠燒書生火來維持體溫，大家怎樣才能逃過這場滅頂?shù)臑?zāi)禍？冰天雪地的地球何時才能回暖？（2）《不懼風暴》：故事背景設(shè)定在一個名為西弗敦的小鎮(zhèn)，在同一天中，史無前例的多個龍卷風同時席卷這個小鎮(zhèn)，在這些難以預(yù)測且極度致命的龍卷風群襲擊下，整個小鎮(zhèn)面臨滅頂之災(zāi)，但專門研究龍卷風的追風人預(yù)測，更糟糕的情況還尚未真正到來。大多數(shù)居民都在緊迫尋找避難所，而這些追風者們卻“逆向而行”趕到龍卷漩渦前，測試需要走多遠才能拍到這千載難逢的極端時刻。（3）《唐山大地震》：描述了1976年發(fā)生在中國唐山的7.8級大地震，一位母親只能選擇救姐弟之一，母親最終選擇了救弟弟，但姐姐卻奇跡生還，后被解放軍收養(yǎng)。32年后家人意外重逢，心中的裂痕等待他們?nèi)バ扪a。悲傷的情節(jié)再一次勾起了當代人們對那一段慘痛災(zāi)難的回憶。（4）《海神號》：新年的鐘聲即將響起，歡快喜慶的氣氛彌漫在正孤獨航行于北大西洋上的海神號中。這是一艘擁有80個房間、13層樓高、載客量超過2000人的超豪華郵輪。在船長麥克·布萊福德的組織下，達官顯貴、社會名流紛紛云集在豪華明亮的大廳，伴著美食佳酒、輕歌曼舞，一同慶祝新年的到來。與此同時，大西洋底的地殼發(fā)生劇烈震動，繼而掀起足以摧毀萬物的滔天巨浪。在自然面前，再堅固的船只也需俯首稱臣。海神號被巨浪掀翻，無數(shù)人丟掉性命。面對死神的威脅，僥幸逃過第一波劫難的人們開始想盡辦法逃生。在茫茫無所依靠的大海中央，他們的命運終將如何？
Understanding ideas部分是一篇記敘文。作者以第人稱的敘事方式，講述了自己從坐地鐵到工作場地，那種無法忍受的炎熱，無處躲藏，以此反映出極熱天氣對我們的影響。
課時目標：
1.認知并靈活運用本課時的重點單詞 plus，erupt，immediately，ccur，annuncement，react t，share…with，pick up，cmpared t，a bit，lk thrugh，due t，after all，cmplain abut等。
2.通過速讀、精讀等方式，引導學生由淺入深，逐層推進，加深對文章的理解，并掌握不同的閱讀技巧和方法。
3.通過閱讀文章，了解自然災(zāi)害、極端天氣的影響，引導學生正確認識極端天氣，并思考自己怎樣從日常生活中的小事做起，過一種綠色環(huán)保、低碳節(jié)能的生活。
