Play a game. Let the turntable turn,and find where it stops. Then work in pairs. One invites the other to do the thing that the needle points at. The other student can accept the invitation or turn down the invitation. If he turns down the invitation,he should give the reason. A:Hi,Xiao Ming! Can you...? B:I’d love to. A:Hi,...! Can you...? B:Sorry,I can’t. I’m not available. I must/have to... A:That’s too bad. Maybe another time. B:Sure,Xiao Li. Thanks for asking. Step 2 Presentation 1. Talk with students about the picture in 2d. T:Look! What are these boys doing? S:They are going bike riding. T:Are they having a good time? S:Yes, they are. T:Look at this boy. He is my friend Jeff. Jeff is going to have a party on Saturday. 2. Work on new words. ①u(mài)ntil conj. &prep. 到……時(shí);直到……為止 ②hang v. (hung)懸掛;垂下 ③hang out 閑逛;常去某處 ④catch v. (caught)及時(shí)趕上;接?。蛔プ?⑤invite v. 邀請(qǐng) ⑥accept v. 接受 ⑦refuse v. 拒絕 Step 3 Role-play the conversation Work on 2d. 1. Read the conversation and answer the questions: (1)Why is Jeff having the party? Because his cousin Sam from Xi’an is going to be here. (2)Is his friend Nick coming to the party? Why or why not? No,he isn’t. He must prepare for an exam. (3)When will they meet? On Monday. (4)What are they going to do? They are going to hang out. 2. Explain some new words and main points in the conversation. (1)until“直到”,表示某一行為一直持續(xù)到某一時(shí)間。用在肯定句中,句子/主句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞必須是延續(xù)性的,表示謂語(yǔ)的動(dòng)作或狀態(tài)一直持續(xù)到until所表示的時(shí)間為止。用在否定句中,句子/主句中的謂語(yǔ)多為非延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞,即:not...until...意為“直到……才……”,表示直到某一時(shí)間,某一行為才發(fā)生,之前該行為并沒(méi)有發(fā)生。 I studied English until 9 o’clock last night. 我昨晚學(xué)英語(yǔ)一直學(xué)到9點(diǎn)鐘。 He didn’t come back until 11 o’clock last night. 他昨晚直到11點(diǎn)鐘才回來(lái)。 (2)hang out意為“閑逛”。其中,hang是動(dòng)詞,意為“懸掛;垂下”,其過(guò)去式為 hung。 (3)catch 意為“及時(shí)趕上;接??;抓住”,其過(guò)去式為caught。Catch you on Monday! (周一見(jiàn)! )與See you on Monday! 表達(dá)的意思類似。 3. Read the conversation after the teacher. 4. Students practice the conversation with their partners. Then let some pairs role-play the conversation. 5. Complete the passage according to 2d. Jeff invites Nick to come to his house on Saturday. Nick can’t come. He has an exam on Monday,so he must prepare for it. But Jeff’s cousin Sam from Xi’an is going to be here. They went bike riding together last fall when Sam visited Jeff. Sam isn’t leaving until next Wednesday. So they can hang out together on Monday night. Step 3 Grammar Focus 1. Ask students to read the sentences. 2. 語(yǔ)法 (1)can的用法 對(duì)于can的一些用法我們之前已經(jīng)學(xué)過(guò),請(qǐng)翻譯下面的句子。 ①Can you dance? 你會(huì)跳舞嗎? ②He can speak English,Japanese and French. 他能講英語(yǔ)、日語(yǔ)和法語(yǔ)。 在上面的兩個(gè)句子中,can表示能力。 ③Can I borrow your English book? 我能借你的英語(yǔ)書(shū)嗎? 在上面這句話中,can表示許可。 ④—Can you come to my party? 你能來(lái)參加我的聚會(huì)嗎? —I’m sorry. I can’t. I have to help my mom.  對(duì)不起,我不能,我得幫我媽媽。 —Sure,I’d love to. 當(dāng)然,我愿意。 can還可以用來(lái)表示邀請(qǐng)。如果接受邀請(qǐng)常說(shuō)“Sure,I’d love/like to.”;如果拒絕邀請(qǐng),常說(shuō)“Sorry,I can’t. I have to...”。 (2)may與might的用法 —May/Might I take this book out of the room? 我可以把這本書(shū)帶出房間嗎? —Yes,you can. (No,you can’t/mustn’t. )是的,你可以。(不,你不可以。) may,might表示請(qǐng)求。若用might只表示比may的語(yǔ)氣更委婉,此處might不是may的過(guò)去式。否定回答時(shí)可用can’t/mustn’t表示“不可以,禁止”。用May I...? 征求對(duì)方許可時(shí)比較正式和客氣,而Can I...? 在口語(yǔ)中更常見(jiàn)。 3. Show these exercises on the screen. Let students finish the exercises without looking at their books. ①—Can you come to my party on Saturday? 星期六你能來(lái)參加我的聚會(huì)嗎? —Sure,I’d love to. 當(dāng)然,我很樂(lè)意。 —Sorry,I must study for a math test.  對(duì)不起,我必須為數(shù)學(xué)考試而學(xué)習(xí)。 ②—Can you go to the movies tonight? 今天晚上你能去看電影嗎? —Sure. Check the answers. Step 4 Practice 1. Work on 3a. (1)Students complete the answers with might and one of the phrases in the box. Step 5 Group work (1)Write down everything you have to do next week. (2)Students work in groups of four. Read the example in 3c. Then choose a day and time to have a party. Then invite classmates to the party. (3)See who can invite the most students to the party. Step 6 Summary 1. In this period,we have learned some new words and a new phrase:until,hang,catch,invite,accept,refuse,hang out. 2. We have learned how to use “can” “may” and “might”. 當(dāng)堂達(dá)標(biāo)(見(jiàn)導(dǎo)學(xué)案“當(dāng)堂達(dá)標(biāo)”) 答案與解析: Ⅰ. 1. might 由答語(yǔ)中的“I’m not sure. (我不確定)”可知回答者不確定能否去參加聚會(huì),故選表示可能性的might。 2. can’t 由后面的“因?yàn)樗仨殠退龐寢尅笨芍荒苋タ措娪?,故選can’t。 3. has to have to意為“不得不”,有人稱和數(shù)的變化。the boy作主語(yǔ),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞應(yīng)用第三人稱單數(shù)形式。故用has to。 4. Sure 由答語(yǔ)后句可知“他們有空”,由此判斷“他們能和我們一起閑逛”,故用Sure作肯定回答。 5. would love to Would you like...? 句型的肯定回答常用“Sure/Certainly,I’d love to.”,to不能省略。 Ⅱ. 1. When 由下句答語(yǔ)可知此處是在詢問(wèn)時(shí)間,提問(wèn)時(shí)間要用when。 2. sorry 在委婉地拒絕別人并要表達(dá)自己的歉意時(shí),要說(shuō)sorry。 3. prepare/study 由上句句意“星期二我有數(shù)學(xué)考試”可知“我要為它做準(zhǔn)備(或?qū)W習(xí))”。 4. another another time意為“其他時(shí)間,別的時(shí)間”。 5. love/like would love/like to do sth. 是固定用法,意為“愿意/想要做某事”。 6. meet 句意:我不得不去火車站接我的朋友。 7. matter  句意:沒(méi)關(guān)系。It doesn’t matter. 是對(duì)別人表示歉意的一種禮貌回答。 8. What/How what/how about是固定搭配,此處用來(lái)承接上文的問(wèn)題。 9. invite 句意:我想邀請(qǐng)你來(lái)參加我的生日聚會(huì)。 10.
