Ask Ss to read the first five lines of Para. 1 and answer the questions below:When is Thanksgiving? Why do people celebrate it?2. Ask Ss to read the rest part of Para. 1. (1) Help Ss to find out how the first Thanksgiving came and talk about it by telling a story; Then show a video about the origin of Thanksgiving.(2) Get Ss to answer:How do people celebrate Thanksgiving?Add more ways of celebrating Thanksgiving Day.Guide the students to answer:What’s the main dish of the meal?3. Ask Ss to enjoy a video about making a turkey dinner first. Read pictures:What do we need if we want to make a turkey dinner?Read Para.2: Get Ss to number the pictures, then         describe the steps one by one.4.Ask Ss to retell the instruction in a group. Read the passage paragraph by paragraph with the guidance of the teacher Read the first five lines of Para.1 and answer the two questions.  Read the rest part of Para.1 and tell the story of the first Thanksgiving. Read the part about the origin of the first Thanksgiving and then enjoy a video about it.  Answer the questions with the guidance of the teacher. Get to know several ways to celebrate Thanksgiving and choose the most popular way.   After enjoying the video, read the pictures and talk about what are needed to make a turkey dinner.   Read Para. 2 and number the pictures. Learn the steps and try to retell them in a group.  to understand the details of the passage with different tasks  to practice the reading skill of scanning and locate the key words and information   to cultivate Ss’ cultural awareness by watching the video of the origin of the first Thanksgiving.     To train Ss to read for detailed information with the help of      pictures.     to develop Ss’ ability of retelling an instruction and cooperation in groups.5.Ask Ss to finish the summary of the passage by blank-filling.   Fill in the blanks of the summary. Check the answers and read the passage aloud together. to summarize the passage  and strengthen Ss understanding of the text After-readingStep 6 Group workGet the Ss to discuss about Thanksgiving and who they want to thank.One student is a reporter and the other students are his/her American friends. Talk about Thanksgiving and who they want to thank.  to encourage cooperation, stress the gist of the passage and cultivate the Ss’ awareness of being thankful to others. Assignment Mother’s Day is coming soon.
