But is the directin f travel nce again n the mve? “Mre and mre, clients are seeking ut Alpine hlidays during the summer mnths,” says Carlyn Addisn, head f prduct at luxury travel cmpany Black Tmat. “Peple are swerving the crwds in peak winter seasn and 6 (lk) at summertime in the Alps t be immersed in the muntain air, with plenty f ways t be active in nature. We’re seeing a surge in demand fr slw travel, relishing the utdrs and escaping the increasingly baking summer heat in ther Eurpean destinatins.”
The cmpany says that rms bked in the Dlmites almst tripled frm 2021 t 2022. And while 2021 bkings were a mix f summer and winter stays, fr 2022, almst all were fr summer. The Alps — like many f Eurpe’s wilderness areas and natinal parks — 7 (benefit) frm a pandemic-led bm.
“We’ve seen an increase in the 8 (ppular) f summer travel t the muntains ver the last few years,” says Janna Lafrge, c-wner f reginal specialist tur peratr Ski France. “It increased dramatically after Cvid-19, with French clientele lking fr hliday ptins when travel 9 (restrict), meaning the idea f pen space, fresh air and a change f pace in the muntains prved very ppular. This increase is nw happening with the UK market, t. 10 (we) chalet and apartments bkings fr summer 2023 are already up n last year.”

As well as bringing skiers t Arctic Sweden 6 ver 100 years, the line has transprted irn re frm the wrld’s biggest irn re mine in Kiruna t the permanently ice-free prt f Narvik in Nrway.
