?Unit 5 Music A卷
1. Aaron Carter isn't like other 12-year-olds. He doesn't go to school, and he's already got a job. He is a big pop star. A few years ago he started his singing with Crazy Little Party Girl, which became a hit at once. Now he goes around the world and his songs are in the tops.
Because he's travelling around all the time, Aaron doesn't have to go to school, but don't envy him too much—he still has to do lessons and homework. And he is good at learning.
"I have to fit my schoolwork around my singing," he explains. "But I'm lucky because I have a private tutor who travels with me. I sometimes have to have lessons on a plane. That's really interesting!"
Aaron's favourite subject is maths but he hates history. He knows clearly that having a good singing career doesn't mean he can go without schoolwork.
"It would be easy to think that I don't need to do well in exams, but that would be crazy," he says. "It's important to get my qualifications(資格) so that I have something to fall back on. Besides, it's interesting to learn about other people and cultures."
Aaron's favourite type of music is rock and roll. "The best thing about being a singer," he says, "is that you get to travel all around the world. But the worst thing is that you're away from home so much that you don't get to see your friends or family."

2. The African Children's Choir is made up of children who are 7 to 10 years old from Africa. They have incredible(驚人的) voices and spirit that amaze the audience everywhere they go!
And they go to a lot of places, all around the world. And not only do they travel a lot, but they perform with some superstar singers and celebrities(名人) for heads of state. But this is not what makes the choir so special.
Like New York's PS22, they do not just sing, but truly put their hearts, souls and bodies into their words. But what is unique about the choir is that it offers hope, education and confidence to children who live in extreme poverty. For example, the kids in the choir are mostly from the poorest countries in the world, such as Uganda. Many children live in one-room homes and walk more than 2 miles to get water for their family. Most of the children have lost one or both of their parents because of wars or diseases.
Through its music and education, the African Children's Choir changes the lives of its children. It allows them to see the world. It gives them hope and confidence. It shows them that everything is possible. The choir even pays for their education through college. In 30 years, it has educated and changed the lives of over 50,000 children.
And, in turn, the children return to their hometowns with new thoughts and new skills to help improve their family and community. These children are truly helping to build a better Africa.

4.Magical melodies from the Beatles
There has been plenty to celebrate this October. Not only has it been half a century since the first James Bond movie hit cinemas, but it has also been five decades since the Beatles released their first single Love Me Do.
On Oct 5, 1962, a new song filled Britain's airwaves. It was raw, simple and direct. "Love, love me do," sang the Beatles, "You know I love you."
Love Me Do is the Beatles' debut single and it marked the introduction of a new culture to the UK, a country struggling through post-war poverty.
Inspired by the US rock pioneers, the band stood out with their mop-top haircuts and daring style. They did so in a time when young people had no say in their own lives, wrote Martin Lewis, writer and producer of a number of Beatles-related projects. The band made rebellion constructive with their passionate joyful music.
The mirror journalist Stuart Maconie wrote: "They were the sound of a new young Britain, confident, classless and dynamic. You knew from the rough, charming directness of this music that these were lads who spoke for a coming generation.
Fifty years later, their memorable melodies are still deeply rooted in mcxiem popular culture. Today the Beatles' golden songs are as dynamic and fresh as ever and continue to interest new generations.
So why have the Beatles' songs stood the test of time?
The answer lies in the music. They are "a mirror of the 1960s"; many of the songs centre on the lost innocence of youth, which always strikes a chord(引起共鳴) with each succeeding generation.
The BBC website also notes that "There is something eerie, fated, cosmic about the Beatles—those seven quick years of fame and then decades of aftershock." The legacy of their music is still felt today; their cheerful melodies ripple through adverts, TV talent shows and modern pop music in general.

A.direct and daring
B.quick and passionate
C.sad and rebellious
D.joyful and traditional
(3).The Beatles' songs have stood the test of time mainly because _______.
A.their melodies are easy to remember
B.they provide a solution to many problems in modern civilization
C.they focus on the theme of "vanished youth" in a striking style
D.young people still don't have much to say in their own lives
(4).What is the main point of the article?

"We can't keep this rabbit," I told my husband, as he stood there holding it. He had found the rabbit outside a medical center an hour earlier. It was clear that someone had given it up. Our dog, Autumn, stretched(伸長(zhǎng)) her neck to look at the rabbit in my husband's hands.
We agreed the rabbit could spend the night in our back yard, and I would try to find a new home for it the next day. Autumn followed me as I put a bowl of water and lettuce(萵苣) near some bushes, where she lived and played.
"Don't worry," I told Autumn. "This yard is owned by you, and you don't have to share it with a rabbit." We went back into the house and locked the rabbit outside. My husband was worried about the rabbit's safety all night.
The next morning, Autumn and I checked on the rabbit. Suddenly, the rabbit rushed from under the bushes and directly attacked Autumn. He ran in big circles around my big but gentle dog, as if to say, "I'm the boss here. You might be bigger, but you're not going to hurt me."
Autumn looked as if she had no idea what had just happened. Since she was a hunting dog(獵狗) by nature, I expected her to run after the rabbit, but no, it was the rabbit that ran after her.
In fact, just one strong shake of the head or neck from Autumn could scare off the rabbit and make him not dare to hang around her. However, instead of hurting the rabbit, Autumn made the rabbit's effort to show his power a game. She seemed to enjoy being run after.

所以此處應(yīng)使用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)的被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)is used。
所以此處應(yīng)使用關(guān)系代詞which, in which相當(dāng)于where,指代地點(diǎn)。
8.答案:
Our school organizes a music week in the first week of March each year.
This year each class gave some performances, such as singing, dancing and short plays. Some of the short plays were put on in English. We also invited a famous pianist to our school. He not only put on a performance but also gave us a lecture about the history of the piano. In addition to all this, we had a musical knowledge contest. Many students took an active part in it. They said they enjoyed themselves very much in the music week.
When the rabbit ran after her, she just ran in circles to avoid him. We watched from the kitchen window as an unusual friendship began to form. Soon the rabbit realized Autumn wasn't a possible danger to him. Even with the power to kill him, she allowed him to share her place. A few days passed and we realized a new home was not necessary because we didn't want to separate the pair.
As this friendship grew allowed the rabbit to come in our house more. My husband even created an area in the house for him to sleep and eat. Every night, I would put him into his area while Autumn just followed me upstairs to sleep in our bedroom. Each morning, I took him outside to the back yard for the day, where he played with Autumn, running after each other. It was really a lovely and happy scene.
