When Andy skated slwly tward the end f the blck, he thught abut Francis Frame. Francis hadn’t lived in the blck very lng, and nne f the ther bys knew him. S the new by was left t himself a great deal, and must ften be very lnely.
“Yes,” said Andy t himself, “it certainly is a pity abut Francis! I ught t d smething abut it.”
As he skated t the vacant lt where they usually trained and raced, he met the captain f his team, a large by called Buddy Bwers. “I stpped fr a few mments t talk t my new neighbr,” said Andy. “dn’t yu think we culd use anther by n ur team fr the race? That new by, Francis Frame, I mean?”
“We just can’t d it. The ther team wuldn’t let us take n an extra by.” Buddy refused.
Sn the training began and Andy practiced very hard, fr his heart was set n having his team win the race. Still, he culdn’t help knwing that his shrt legs kept him frm being a fast skater. On the way hme, Andy thught f a way t help his team win as well as help Francis Frame — he culd pretend t be sick n the racing day and have Francis take his place!

Finally, when the race drew t a clse, Francis reached the finish line first. Andy shuted. “Francis, yu are the best.” The tw hugged and smiled happily after the game.
