Understanding ideas部分是關(guān)于作家Richard Fairhurst的訪談節(jié)目，通過采訪的形式介紹其新作 The New Age f Inventin，及其對歷史上發(fā)明的黃金時代的認知以及新時代的發(fā)明，如：3D打印和GPS定位系統(tǒng)；Richard在節(jié)目中也探討了發(fā)明動機等一系列我們所關(guān)心的問題。通過這篇文章，進一步了解新時代的新發(fā)明以及這些發(fā)明給我們的生活帶來的翻天覆地的變化，引導學生善于思考與探索，做個生活中的有心人，學習真正的發(fā)明精神。
課時目標：
1.認知并靈活運用本課時的重點詞匯 press，sht，flexible，capable，desire，
battery，stuff，virtual reality，wearable tech，in additin，never say never。
2.通過速讀、精讀等方式，引導學生由淺入深，逐層推進，加深對文章的
理解，掌握不同的閱讀技巧和方法。
3.通過閱讀文章，了解作家 Richard Fairhurst以及他的作品《新發(fā)明時代》，
引導學生展開聯(lián)想，思考古今重大發(fā)明，了解更多關(guān)于發(fā)明家的故事，學習他們的優(yōu)秀品質(zhì)。

學習、掌握本課時的重點單詞 steam，lse，sink，fault，reslve，strategy，signal，breath，cncern以及短語help ut，let dwn，let ff steam，take a breath，pull ne’s weight，lse lips sink ships，并能在具體語境中靈活運用。

通過解決閱讀階段所設(shè)置的題目，學會分析問題、解決問題，理清文章脈絡(luò)，提高閱讀水平。

1.做好該部分內(nèi)容的視頻材料、PPT以及音頻素材。
2.設(shè)計好閱讀理解題目，利用不同方式拓展語言點，激發(fā)學生的學習興趣。
學生準備：
1.在網(wǎng)上搜索了解幾部科幻影片的內(nèi)容概要，了解其對未來科技的想象及其趨勢走向。
2.預習 Starting ut和 Understanding ideas兩部分的內(nèi)容，通過查字典等方式提前解決詞匯問題。

【設(shè)計意圖】該部分用簡答題的形式將課文主要內(nèi)容展示出來，有助于學生理清文章脈絡(luò)，掌握文章的主要內(nèi)容，鍛煉學生的概括歸納能力和語言表達能力。因為有原文提示，難度不大，因此將該題設(shè)置在了速讀部分。

【設(shè)計意圖】通過設(shè)置該題，進一步歸納、概括文章，理清文章脈絡(luò)，有助于加深學生對文章的理解。同時，在讀懂語篇的基礎(chǔ)上，將英語語法、句法和詞匯的知識融合在一起，更科學地反應(yīng)學生的口頭表達能力和英語綜合程度。

（2）Activity4以思維導圖形式提煉出文章的主線，將過去的發(fā)明、現(xiàn)在的發(fā)明以及發(fā)明的靈感幾個要素通過設(shè)置的具體問題串起來，有助于學生提取關(guān)鍵信息、歸納整理原文，能鍛煉學生原文定位、確定答案角度的能力。該題源自課文，目標明確，抓住關(guān)鍵詞是解題關(guān)鍵。
