When I saw her tnight she smiled and recgnized me.I smiled back at her.She was lking mre relaxed even thugh she was still busy ding her jb.I have nticed her several times this last few mnths and she always lks s much happier nw.Tnight when I talked with her I nticed her name tag.Her name is Pamela.
Pamela wrks at the express checkuts in a busy supermarket.She deals with prblems when the self-service checkut experiences a prblem (n price n prduct,machine prblems,etc.).She mnitrs these checkuts and usually has hardly dealt with ne cmplaint befre anther is created.
When I first talked t Pamela,I had called her t the checkut I was using.There wasn't any prblem with the checkut thugh.My prblem r shuld I say cncern was abut Pamela.She lked tired and was under a lt f stress as she quickly mved frm ne checkut t the next.It's a bit f a fire-fighting jb.
I tld Pamela that she needed t slw dwn.I tld her she wasn't getting paid enugh t be wrking as hard as she was wrking.I tld her that we,the custmers,culd wait and it was very bad fr her health t be putting herself under such pressure.I tld her that ur expectatins were nt as hard as the nes she set fr herself.Pamela tld me she wuld slw dwn.I culd tell she was tuched that nt nly did I ntice her stress but I chse t talk t her abut it and was cncerned fr her health.I gently tld her things had t change.I tld her I wuld be lking ut fr her in future t see if she had taken my advice n bard.She smiled and said,“I prmise that I will next time.”
