Charles Yerkes, a wealthy American businessman, decided t imprve the system by buying up the many different lines and setting up the Undergrund Electric Railways Cmpany f Lndn in 1902. In 1933, the Lndn Undergrund and the different bus and train lines passed int public wnership.
