① 不定式作定語時,要放在被修飾的詞語后面。
1. 不定式作定語 (attributive)
Grammar: t-infinitive as attributive and adverbial f result
例如:Is this the best way t help him? 這是幫助他的最佳方法嗎?
② 不定式作定語時,與被修飾的詞語在邏輯上有主謂關系、動賓關系等。
例如:He’s always the first ne t get up. 他總是第一個起床。Please give me smething t drink. 請給我點兒喝的。
③ 當不定式作定語,且與被修飾的詞語有邏輯上的動賓關系時,不定式動詞應該是及物動詞;如果不定式動詞為不及物動詞,則該動詞必須與介詞連用,組成及物的動詞短語。
例如:Because the rm was very crwded, I needed a tallbench t stand n. 由于房間里太擠,我不得不站到高板凳上。He wanted t find a new huse t live in. 他想找個新房子住。
① 不定式作結果狀語常與 learn, find, see, hear, make等動詞連用。
2. 不定式作結果狀語 (adverbial f result)
例如:He returned hme t learn his daughter had just beenengaged. 他回家后得知女兒剛剛訂婚了。
② nly + 不定式,常常表示出乎意料的結果。
例如:I hurried t Prfessr Wang’s huse nly t find hewas ut. 我匆忙趕到王教授家,卻發(fā)現他外出了。
③ s / such… as t 可作結果狀語。
例如:She was s angry as t be unable t speak. 她氣得連話都說不出來。
