本課時通過談?wù)撛谌粘I钪形覀兯茏龅谋Wo(hù)地球的事情導(dǎo)入新課??焖匍喿x短文,理清課文結(jié)構(gòu)和各部分的主要內(nèi)容,接下來細(xì)讀短文,完成所設(shè)置的各項(xiàng)任務(wù)。通過這些練習(xí),幫助學(xué)生理清短文脈絡(luò)結(jié)構(gòu),把握短文的細(xì)節(jié)內(nèi)容。指導(dǎo)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)并掌握新的語言點(diǎn)。最后,通過課堂達(dá)標(biāo)訓(xùn)練,檢測學(xué)生對本課時所學(xué)知識的掌握和能力的養(yǎng)成情況。
教學(xué)目標(biāo)
通過本課時的學(xué)習(xí),讓學(xué)生達(dá)成以下目標(biāo):

(1)單詞:gate, bottle, president, inspiration, iron, work, metal, creativity

教學(xué)過程
Step 1 Lead-in

T: What can we do to save the earth?
S: …
T: In fact, we can do many things to save the earth. For example:

Take the bus instead of driving.

Recycle paper.

Turn off the lights when you leave a room.

Turn off the shower while we are washing our hair.

Don’t use paper napkins.
T: List more things that you can do to save the earth.
1. Recycle the waste water so that we can reuse it.
2. Don’t drop litter everywhere.
3. Plant more trees.

Step 2 Warming up
1. Show the pictures to the class and ask them what they are made of.

The things in these three pictures are made of plastic bottles.
2. Ask the students to look at the title and the pictures in 2b. Guess what the passage is about.
Rethink, Reuse, Recycle!

A possible answer:
It’s about how people can think of creative ways to use things that are no longer wanted.
3. Think: Do you think it is a good way to protect the environment?

Ask the students to write down the answers to the three questions on their own. Then check answers by answering the questions.

Read the passage.
1. Ask the students to read each sentence after the recording.
2. Explain some new words and expressions to the class to help the students read without any difficulty.
3. Encourage some students to read the passage. Correct the pronunciation errors.
Step 4 Language points
1. Do you often throw away things you don’t need anymore? 你經(jīng)常扔掉你不再需要的東西嗎?
(1)throw away 意為“扔掉, 拋棄”,是“動詞+副詞”結(jié)構(gòu)的動詞短語,名詞作賓語時,放在away前后都可,但人稱代詞作賓語時,必須放在away之前。類似結(jié)構(gòu)的短語還有turn off, pull down, work out等。
Don’t throw those vegetables away. 別扔那些蔬菜。
The paper is still useful. Don’t throw it away. 這些紙仍然有用。別扔了。
(2)not…anymore意為“不再”,anymore通常位于句末,not與be動詞、助動詞或連系動詞等連用。該結(jié)構(gòu)可與no more進(jìn)行轉(zhuǎn)換。
The girl didn’t cry anymore when she saw her mother.=The girl no more cried when she saw her mother. 看到母親后,那個女孩不再哭泣。
2. The windows and doors come from old buildings around her town that were pulled down. 窗戶和門來自她所在的鎮(zhèn)上被拆除的舊建筑。
pull down 意為“拆下,摧毀”,也是一個“動詞+副詞”結(jié)構(gòu)的動詞短語。
All the old houses here will be pulled down. 這兒所有的舊房子都要拆除。
3. The top of the house is an old boat turned upside down. 房子的頂部是一條翻轉(zhuǎn)過去的舊木船。
turned upside down是一個過去分詞短語,在句中作后置定語,修飾名詞boat。過去分詞(短語)作定語,含有被動的含義。
I like the photos taken by the lake. 我喜歡在湖邊拍攝的這些照片。
4. Not only can the art bring happiness to others, but it also shows that even cold, hard iron can be brought back to life with a little creativity. 藝術(shù)不但給人們帶來快樂,而且也說明只需要一點(diǎn)兒創(chuàng)造力,即使是堅(jiān)硬、冰冷的鐵也可以產(chǎn)生活力。
not only…but also…意思是“不但……而且……”,其中的also有時可以省略,用于連接兩個表示并列關(guān)系的成分,著重強(qiáng)調(diào)后者,它也可以連接兩個句子。
Not only I but also Tom and Mary are fond of watching television.
不僅我,(而且)湯姆和瑪麗也都喜歡看電視。
Light and bright colors make people not only happier but more active.
淺而亮的顏色不但使人更開心,也會使人更具活力。
[注意] 1. not only…but also…連接兩個主語時,謂語動詞的人稱和數(shù)上適用“就近原則”。
Not only I but also Lucy has been to China.不但我,(而且)露西也去過中國。
2. Not only…but also…連接句子時,not only 可以置于句首表示強(qiáng)調(diào),這時第一分句要采用倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)。
Not only do the professors have their own ideas on the matter, but the students have theirs too. 對這件事不僅教授們有自己的看法,學(xué)生們也有自己的想法。
