Shackletn and his men began his expeditin t Antarctica in 1914. After mre than 700 days f adventure, he and his men returned safely. As they apprached Antarctica, their ship, Endurance, gt stuck in the ice and they had t abandn it. Shackletn threw away all his gld and tk nly essential supplies. He did s because he realized clearly that survival was the mst imprtant thing and he had t set an example t his men.
As there wasn't any chance f being rescued n Elephant Island, Shackletn ventured mre than 1,300 kilmeters with five f his men t search fr help.
