(4)由 each..., every..., n...,many many a...連接名詞作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)形式。Every by and every girl is t attend the meeting t be held this afternn.所有的男孩和女孩都要參加今天下午舉行的會(huì)議。(5)“單數(shù)名詞+ with/alng with/tgether with/except/as well as/rather than/mre than/but/besides/like等+名詞”作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞形式與前面的名詞保持一致,仍然用單數(shù)形式。如果前面的名詞是復(fù)數(shù),謂語動(dòng)詞就用復(fù)數(shù)形式。

(2)表示成雙、成套的名詞,如trusers,shes,glasses,clthes等作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)形式。若與a pair/suit f連用時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)形式。My trusers are new but my shes are t ld.我的褲子是新的,但是我的鞋太舊了。A pair f glasses csts quite a lt nw.一副眼鏡現(xiàn)在要花很多錢。(3)有些集體名詞,如peple,plice,cattle等作主語時(shí)謂語動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)形式。The plice are searching fr the murderer.警察正在搜捕兇手。
3.就近原則。(1)由連詞r,,,nt als,等連接兩個(gè)名詞作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞與它鄰近的主語保持一致。Nt nly Tm but als his parents like playing ftball.不僅湯姆喜歡踢足球,而且他的父母也喜歡踢足球。Either yu r yur sister is t blame fr the accident.要么是你,要么是你妹妹,應(yīng)該對(duì)這起事故負(fù)責(zé)。(2)在there be句型中,通常根據(jù)最靠近be動(dòng)詞的名詞來決定動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)形式還是復(fù)數(shù)形式。有時(shí)也可以用exist、stand、live等代替be動(dòng)詞。There is an range,tw apples and sme bananas in the plate.盤子里有一個(gè)橘子、兩個(gè)蘋果和一些香蕉。There stands a huse and sme trees.那里有一座房子和許多樹。
