Step2 Hold up a watch. Say “ This is a watch.” And write the sentence on the board. Point to the word “This” and say “What does “This” refer to?” then do the same things with “that, these and those”Then lead Ss to sum up the rules how to use “this, that, these and those” Step3 Exercise 5Ask Ss to look at the table. Read the first two sentences and point out: in the first sentence, “this” is a pronoun, and a pronoun refers a noun, “this” refers to ring.
