The teacher will give comments on their ideas.Step2:Pre-readingAsk students to think about this question:When you are unhappy about something, who do you like to talk to?3 minutes will be given to think of it. Then two students will be invited to answer the question.Ask students to predict the topic of the two letters according to these key words: I can .../I can't .../help me.Step3:While-readingFast reading(1)Askstudents to read the two letters quickly to get the main idea and underline these words, phrases and sentences they don't know. Then letthem check their predictions.(2)Askstudents to underline the rules for Molly.The teacher explains the meaning and usage of these new words, phrases and sentences. The teacher must ensure that all students can understand and master them. Then invite some students to talk about the topic of this passage. Careful reading:(1)Read the two letters, then answer these questions:1. Why is Molly Brown unhappy? 2. Can Molly Brown play basketball after school? 3. What do Dr.Know think Molly can do?4.Why are parents and schools sometimes strict with us?Students have 10 minutes to read carefully, then some of them will be invited to answer these questions, and the teacher will give the answers.(2)Ask students to look at the sentences in 3c, and read the passage again, After reading, complete the sentences with have to/ must, can or can't.Then check the answers. Step4:Post-readingDivide the students into groups and ask them to discuss whether all the rules are reasonable and give their reasons. After the discussion, invite several groups to share their views for the whole class.
