Writing pems is nt that difficult. We can write abut ur daily life, ur feelings, ur lved nes, the bjects surrunding us and s n. Enjy a shrt pem and see if yu can get sme inspiratin frm it.
Have yu ever written a pem befre? If s, what did yu write abut?What might inspire yu t write pems?
1. Befre yu listen, discuss the fllwing questins with yur partner.

Use yur prir knwledgeIf yu cme acrss a tpic yu are familiar with, yu can think abut what yu already knw abut it befre yu listen. Using prir knwledge will make it easier fr yu t predict what yu will hear. This will als reduce yur anxiety and help yu better understand the cnversatin while listening.

5. Wrk in grups. Discuss entering a pem cntest like the ne in the listening sectin. The expressins in Activity 4 and the fllwing questins may help yu.

Petry shuld always be read alud, as that is when yu can hear the music f the wrds. When reading petry alud, start slwly. Find and emphasise the rhythm f the wrds. Begin t think abut hw the pem makes yu feel – happy, sad, in lve – and read the pem with emtin, puring ut yur feelings.

Listen and practise reading the fllwing pems alud. Pay attentin t the rhyming wrds and the rhythm f the pems.
