As an fficer fr Teams4u, a charity that prvides resurces t peple in need, I’d seen what life was like there. I went there twice a year and lved it. “Yu must bring yur family next time,” ne f the lcal teachers had said t me. My girls had never been ut t Africa with me befre, but were always wide-eyed as I tld my adventures.
Life in Uganda was very different frm what we were used t. Children there had little t eat fr lunch. There were n prper desks and chairs in the classrm. I’d been ut there t help, but there was still a lt f wrk t d in sme remte schls.
During dinner, Nia asked me, “Mum, can we dine ut?” “Hmemade fd is bring,” Rbyn cmplained. I didn’t say a wrd.
That night in bed, I thught abut the invitatin frm the teacher in Uganda. By the fllwing mrning, I’d made my decisin. “Girls, we’re ging t Uganda! Fr Tw weeks!” I annunced. Nia and Rbyn were surprised at first but sn became excited! Uganda wasn’t a theme park, but it was an adventure anyway.
S, a few weeks later, in May last year, we landed in the capital city f Kampala. That night, we all slept under msquit nets (蚊帳) in the blazing (燃燒的) heat --- we were wrlds away frm hme.
