Unit 3 Family matters

1. T understand a feature stry and be familiar with the characteristics f feature stries.2. T get a further understanding abut the relatinship between family members.

Lk at the title f the passage and the picture. Predict which f the wrds and expressins can be applied t the brthers’ relatinship?
Learning t learn Features are “peple stries”, and are typically lnger than standard news stries. Features are written in an individual style, with extra detail and backgrund. Feature stries typically start with a “hk” that gets the interest f the reader: The style f the first paragraph als needs t set the tne f the whle piece. The middle part cntains the “meat” f the stry, with the ending being a summary, a pwerful qute r even a surprise fr the reader.
Chse the main message f the passage.Lve and cmpetitin between the Brwnlee brthers make them successful athletes.Peple have different pinins abut Alistair Brwnlee's actins in the triathln final.Fr Alistair Brwnlee, family lve is mre imprtant than winning the triathln final.

1. Hw are pinins abut the Brwnlee brthers divided? Which d yu agree with? Give yur reasns. Sme think the brthers shuld have been disqualified, while thers think they shuld have been highly praised fr their actins.

Wrk in grups. Talk abut the Brwnlee brthers’ stry.Answer the questins t help retell the stry.(1) Wh are they? They are Alistair Brwnee and Jnny Brwnee.(2) When did the stry happen? It happened during the final part f 2016 Wrld Triathln Series.
(3) Where did the stry happen? It happened in Mexic. (4) What did Alistair d? Alistair pulled his yunger brther Jnny twards the finish line when he fund Jnny abut t fall nt the track. He then pushed Jnny ver the line.(5) Why did he d it? Because his brther was in truble, and he had t help.

With just 700 metres t g in the final part f the 2016 Wrld Triathln Series in Mexic, Alistair Brwnlee was in third place and his yunger brther, Jnny, was in the lead. Hwever, his brther was t exhausted (筋疲力盡的) and culdn’t make it t the finish line. Alistair, wh wuld have a chance t win, chse t help his brther.
One pssible versin:
Opinins n whether Alistair shuld be highly praised fr his actins are divided. As far as I am cncerned, he shuld be highly praised because that’s what brthers shuld be like. At that mment, he was nt an athlete aiming fr a medal but just a brther. Frm the stry I’ve learnt that brtherly lve means helping each ther ut f truble. That’s all that matters.
