A: What do you think of Japan when you talk about it? B: Japan is famous for hot springs, sushi, sakura and so on. A: Then what places of interest in Japan do you know? B: Mount Fuji, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo National Museum and so on. A: Wow, you know a lot about Japan. It’s really a nice place to visit. The exchange students are going to Japan after visiting Shanghai. Step 2 Reading A trip to Japan 1. Ask students to read the students’ itinerary of the trip. Then answer some questions. (1) How long will the exchange students stay in Japan? (2) Where will the exchange students go? (3) Where may they go first according to the map? Answers: (1) Four days. (2) Kyoto, Tokyo and Mount Fuji. (3) Maybe Kyoto or Tokyo. 2. Ask students to listen to Millie introducing their itinerary. Match the days with their activities. Then check answers together. On the first day, they are going to take a tour of Tokyo, the capital city. On the second day, they are going to visit Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain. On the third day, they are going to visit Kyoto, an ancient city of culture. On the fourth day, they are going to leave Japan for another Asian country. 3. Ask students to have a guess what they can do during their stay in Japan. Maybe they can go skiing on Mount Fuji. They may learn the culture of Japan. 4.
