On the left side f the reprt card was the failure f my chsing---Maths, Physics and Chemistry---n the bttm f the right hand side it said Nt Prmted(不升級)in red ink. My mther, an English teacher in anther Calcutta schl, was t prud t beg the principal fr the three marks I needed in Chemistry t be prmted t class nine. I was a fl t have ever thught that I culd get away with ntstudying and watching MTV fr hurs n end. Till class eight, my father hadrefused t get a cable cnnectin n the grunds that I wuld frever be glued t the screen, nt study and fail the exams. The year after he gave in t his desire t watch late night ftball, I prved him right. I failed class eight because I was in lve with the Backstreet Bys and wuld watch MTV all the time s that I wuldn’t miss a single vide. That’s the whle truth and the band will never knw the price I paid fr my lve.

Tw hurs later, they apprached ne f the features that made the cave unique: a narrw passage nt big enugh t stand up in that led int a shrt, tight dwnhill. This had a name: Bastard’s Crawl.
