Lrena parted the curtain in her living rm and lked ut nt the wet street. She was relieved the sunlight appeared. If it didn’t stp raining it wuld ruin her day. Her mther had prmised t drive her t Fashin Fair if it were sunny. Lrena was desperate t g there because she had t replace a Nike jacket.
Earlier that Wednesday afternn, Eddie, the mst ppular seventh-grader, had given Lrena his jacket and asked her t keep an eye as he wuld play basketball in a hurry. Lrena was quite happy t be f help.
During her last class, the bilgy teacher made them cut apart dead frgs. Fr fear f getting bld n Eddie’s jacket, Lrena flded it and placed it n a chair. Then she tk the knife and cut the skin quickly. She felt sick pening the frg’s belly.
When the bell rang Lrena hurried ut because the bus she caught fr hme left ten minutes after schl. She raced t bard the bus and fund a seat. After a few minutes the driver started the engine and drve away when Lrena lked ut f the windw and saw Eddie. “The jacket!” she screamed. She sht frm her seat and ran up t the driver. “Yu’ve gt t stp! I frgt Eddie’s jacket!” “Wh’s Eddie? I dn’t knw n Eddie,” the driver said crssly. “Sit dwn.”
All that evening she was upset and blamed her bilgy teacher fr her prblem. If he hadn’t made them dissect（解剖）frgs, she wuldn’t have been s absent-minded. The next day Lrena rushed frm the bus t the bilgy rm. The jacket was nt there!
“Hw can I ever tell Eddie?” she clsed her eyes. She spent mst f her break and lunch perid in the rest rm, brushing her hair and wrrying. On Friday she stayed hme t avid Eddie. She tld her mther she wanted t g shpping t buy her a gift fr her birthday, which was the next week. Actually, she wanted t buy a Nike jacket with her life savings at Fashin Fair.
