一、教材分析
本課是外研社版小學新標準英語一年級起點第八冊,本課內(nèi)容是Module8 Unit1 He lives in the east of the US.本課話題是圍繞Daming和Sam 討論 Simon在美國居住的城市位置,進而學習用英語表達方位的方法。語言知識是運用“He lives in the east/west/north south of ... . ”以及“It's in the east/west/north/south of ... .”結構來談論某一城市所處范圍內(nèi)的方位,即談論在......內(nèi)的東西南北方向。
二、學情分析
經(jīng)過近四年的英語學習,四年級的學生已經(jīng)初步形成了一定的英語學習習慣,掌握了一定的英語學習方法與學習策略, 其認知水平較之前有所發(fā)展,他們對貼近生活實際的話題充滿了好奇,同時他們也具備了完整表達句子的能力。因此他們會對于“談論城市所處位置”這一話題很感興趣。學生在Module6中已經(jīng)初步接觸了一定范圍內(nèi)東、西位置的表達。因此,對范圍內(nèi)南北位置的表達是本節(jié)課的新授內(nèi)容。由于本課文本的內(nèi)容是談論美國幾個城市的位置,這幾個城市名稱的發(fā)音對于學生而言仍有一定的難度,需要進一步練習。同時,四年級學生很樂于了解西方的地理知識及文化。這也會對本課的學習產(chǎn)生一定的促進作用。
三、教學目標
1.語言技能
(1)聽:全體學生能聽懂課文,理解課文,部分學生可以聽懂與課文相關的材料。
(2)說: 全體學生能用“... is in the east/west/south/north of ... .”來描述某一城市在一定范圍內(nèi)的方位。
(3)讀: 全體學生能讀懂課文或者與課文內(nèi)容相近的語言材料。
2.語言知識
(1)功能:描述某一城市在一定范圍內(nèi)的方位。
(2)語法:全體學生能根據(jù)地圖上的位置,運用“... is in the east/west/south/north of... .”來描述某一城市在一定范圍內(nèi)的方位。
(3)詞匯:全體學生能聽懂并掌握speak, best, south, north, rest, country, capital, maybe的含義。
(4)語音:全體學生能感知學習“best, west”中“e”的讀音; “north, south”中字母組合“th”的讀音,“speak”中字母組合“ea”的讀音。
3. 情感態(tài)度:通過對課文的學習和運用“... is in the east/west/south/north... .” 句型來描述某一城市在范圍內(nèi)所處的方位,讓學生了解美國城市,加強學生跨文化交際意識。
4. 學習策略:通過小組合作,共同完成學習任務,在合作交流中可以互相幫助修改表達中出現(xiàn)的錯誤,遇到問題時主動向老師請教。
5. 文化意識:1.通過對課文的學習和對方位的表達,讓學生在了解美國城市的過程中加強學生的跨文化交際意識。
2.通過“我是小導游”活動介紹中國城市,引導學生意識到我們的國家幅員遼闊,日漸強盛,進而培養(yǎng)其民族自豪感和對祖國的熱愛。
四、教學重、難點
1. 重點:
(1) 理解掌握單詞best, south, north, rest, country, capital, speak, maybe
(2) 運用“... is in the east/west/south/north of... .”對某一城市進行在一定范圍內(nèi)方位的表達。
2. 難點:
(1) 課文中提及的三個美國城市Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC.的正確發(fā)音
(2) 能夠正確運用“... is in the east/west/south/north of... .”來描述城市在一定范圍內(nèi)的地理位置。

六、教學過程
(一)復習導入Warm-up and lead-in( 2分鐘)
操作方式:1. Greet to the students .
T: Hello, children. Welcome to the English class. Are you happy today ?
Ss: Yes !
T: I'm very happy. Look, our friends Amy and Lingling, they are also very happy. They are playing clapping games. Let's watch and say with them, ok ?
Ss: Ok!
2.Lead-in.
(Learn the new words best, rest and have a rest.)
3.T: East and west, home is the best. Our home is China. China is a country.
(Learn the new word "country"--"countries".)
4 T: There are many countries in the world. I think China is the best ! Chinese people is also very clever. They invented the compass.
(Look at the compass, then say the directions west, east, north and south one by one. Then learn the new words north and south.)
【設計意圖】 通過引導學生觀看活動1中的小視頻,為學生營造輕松的英語課堂氛圍,在學習小歌謠的過程中以自然拼讀法的方式由之前學習的單詞west來學本課的新授單詞best, rest以及have a rest. 在學習新詞后,引導學生理解歌謠中提及的East and west, home is the best.這句英文諺語的含義。教師在此基礎上順勢引出China is our country. 學習本課的另一個新授詞匯country,以及其復數(shù)形式countries. PPT中呈現(xiàn)China is the best !這句話,既幫助學生鞏固了best一詞的含義,同時也簡介的培養(yǎng)了學生的愛國情懷。接著再順勢引出中國人的一項偉大發(fā)明——指南針。在指南針這個情形下學習方位詞north, south.
(二)任務呈現(xiàn)Task presentation( 1 分鐘)
操作方式:T:Today let's talk about the directions of the cities. Then be a tour guide to introduce the cities of China. Let's learn M8U1 He lives in the east of the US.]
【設計意圖】通過前面對方位的學習,因此本節(jié)課的學習目標是運用目標語句來描述城市的方位,同時做一名小導游來介紹我們中國的城市。通過這一有趣的活動來激發(fā)學生學習本課的學習興趣。
(三)課文學習Text learning( 10分鐘)
操作方式:1. Watch and answer.
T:In Module8 Unit 1, Daming and Simon are talking about a country. They are talking about the US. Why are they talking about this country ? I will tell you. Because Daming's cousin Simon lives in the US. Do you want to know "where does Simon live "? Let's watch and answer then tell me, ok ?
Where does Simon live ?
A. He lives in the west of the US.
B. He lives in the east of the US.
S: I choose A. He lives in the east of the US.
2. Listen and underline.
T: Children, actually, the US is a very big country. There are many cities in the US. In this lesson, we are going to talk about three cities. They are Log Angeles, New York and Washington DC.(教授Los Angeles, New York 和Washington DC. 這三個城市的發(fā)音。)Can you help me to find where Los Angeles is ? Where is New York ?
T: (1) Where is Los Angeles ?
S: Los Angeles is in the west of the US.
T: (2) Where is New York ?
S: New York is in the east of the US.
T: New York is in the east of the US. Does Simon live in New York?
S: Yes, he does.
T: Is New York the capital of the US? Do you know capital ? Beijing is our capital.
S: No, it isn't. The capital of the US is Washington DC. .(教授capital)

S1: The capital of China is Beijing.
S2: The capital of the UK is London.

3. Ask and answer in pairs.
【設計意圖】教師通過向?qū)W生介紹美國是一個非常大的國家,它有許多城市。然后過渡到學習課文中提到的三個城市Los Angeles, New York 和Washington DC. 。通過聽音在文本中找到這三個城市的位置,進而在語境中學習新單詞capital。在學習了capital后,教師問學生美國總統(tǒng)Trump住在哪個城市,在學生在學習文本的過程中了解美國文化。最后讓學生間對課文中的這三個城市的位置進行互問互答,為后面的操練環(huán)節(jié)做準備。

【設計意圖】通過師生齊說教師自編的動感小歌謠,進一步鞏固本課所學的目標語句。在此基礎上觀看教師制作的美國風光微課,讓學生了解到美國有很多漂亮又有名的地方,自然引出,也許有一天我們可以一起去美國看看這些美麗的地方,在這個語境中呈現(xiàn)maybe這個詞匯。在了解美國的著名景點后,教師順勢問學生,美國人說什么語言,進一步激發(fā)學生對這個國家的了解的興趣。
(四)訓練鞏固 Practice( 15分鐘)
操作方式: 1. Super Brain.
T: We know the US is a very big country. Look, this is our home, China. It's also a very big country. Let's play a little game. Super Brain.
2. Ask and answer in pairs.
A: Where is ... ?
B: It's in the ... of China.
【設計意圖】: 通過前面對美國城市的了解及學習,由美國過渡到中國。介紹中國的四個城市Beijing, Shanghai , Haikou, Lhasa.開展“最強大腦”游戲,給學生10秒鐘時間,10秒鐘后讓學生重新找到城市的位置。然后用Where is... ? It's in the ... of... . 來進行同桌間的對話練習。通過游戲來增加練習活動的趣味性。同桌間合作進行中國城市地理位置的問答,培養(yǎng)學生對本節(jié)課目標語句的靈活運用能力。
(五)任務完成 Task completion( 10 分鐘)
操作方式: 3. I'm a little guide.

【設計意圖】經(jīng)過前面的訓練及師生,生生間的交際操練,學生對于本課的目標句型已經(jīng)有了一定的掌握,大部分學生能夠完成在開課時設置的語言任務。在任務完成環(huán)節(jié),為學生提供恰當?shù)恼Z言支架,實現(xiàn)語言的輸出。在完成任務的過程中,學生可以體會到用英語幫助他人做事情的快樂,對其今后的英語學習會起到積極的影響。
(六)小結與布置作業(yè) Summary and homework(2 分鐘)
操作方式: 1. T: Our country is very big and very beautiful. At the same time, it's becoming stronger and stronger. Let's enjoy the video.

Ss: Yes.
