Have you ever seen snow? Many people in the world have not. Some countries never have snow, and some have only a little on the tops of very high mountains. In the north of England, there is quite a lot of snow every winter, but in the south of England, there is usually little.
When a student from a warm country comes to England in auturnn for the first time, he feels cold at first. There are often dark clouds, grey sky and cold rain in England in auturnn, and most students from warm countries do not like this.
But snow is different. Though it is cold, it is also beautiful. Perhaps, after several dark mornings, the students wakes up one day, and there is a lot of light in his room. He thinks “Is it so late?” and jumps out of bed. But no, it is not very late. He looks out of the window and there is the snow on the ground and on the houses and everywhere. Do you find it difficult to put down your mobile phone? If yes, you are not alone. These days, many people can’t live without their phones. They reach for them as soon as they wake up in the morning. They keep checking their apps, such as QQ and Wechat, to get the latest news.
It may be difficult for these people to give up the bad habit, so Google developed an app called Dashboard to help them. This app helps users manage the time they spend on their phones.
First, Dashboard allows the users to look at their phone habits. For example, users can see how many times they have unlocked their phones, how many times they have checked their apps, and how much time they spend on each app each day. Once the users see this information, they will be able to make some changes. They can set a time limit(限制) for how long they can use each app every day. After they’ve hit the limit, they won’t be able to use the app until the next day. What’s more, Dashboard can help keep the phones silent when users put their phones face down, so they will use the phones less. If you truly want to make full use of your free time instead of spending hours using your smartphone, this new app is just a good choice. After all, controlling yourself and having a strong will can help you most.

In the early days, many people in San Francisco came from China. Some worked as labours(勞工)in the gold fields, and others on railroads. They were poor people when they first came to America. Others opened restaurants to serve Chinese foods. These people enjoyed the things they were used to having in their homeland.
Today, Grand Avenue is the main street to the very large Chinese-American community called Chinatown. Children who live in this area go to the San Francisco City School. Some also go to Chinese language schools to learn how to read and write Chinese.
People from different places enjoy visiting Chinatown. They may buy beautiful carvings or silks in the Chinese shops. They like to eat the different foods served in the Chinese restaurants.
Visitors to Chinatown also enjoy hearing the sounds of China. The music seems strange because it sounds so different from American music.

One morning. I was on the underground going to work. A voice came over the speaker. It said, “This stop is Shady Grove Park”. I heard a little voice repeat (重復(fù)) it and looked down. A young girl said it again, “This stop is ...” Carefully and slowly, and with a little roll of her hand, she said it over and over again. It was like she was teaching a little child.
Then I understood. She wasn’t teaching a child. She was teaching her mother! I listened and heard the mother talk to someone in English. She said that she was Japanese and that she was learning English from her daughter. The mother certainly could talk in English, but she still had a long way to go. Being Japanese, she said that she had problems with “th” and “t” sounds. Luckily, her daughter was very patient (耐心的). When she finally got them right, her daughter smiled and gave her a high five.
At the next stop, the mother said the name of the stop with perfect pronunciation, “This stop is the Railroad Station.”
It was a cute start to my day. All day, I thought of that girl and her mother and felt happy. The girl could speak three languages — Japanese, English, and French. Everyone has a sweet and happy childhood. There must be something you like best during that time. My favorite thing from childhood is a toy bear. I’ve had it for 10 years. My mother gave it to me as a gift for my fifth birthday.
I like the toy bear so much because it is very soft and lovely. It is special to me because I slept next to it every night when I was a child. It was just like my friend in my childhood life. The toy has given me many sweet memories. I remember a lot of things happened in my childhood when I see it.

115.例文:
My Hometown Chengdu
My hometown Chengdu is a wonderful place located in Sichuan province, which has a long history. With rich cultural heritage, Chengdu is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in China.
There are many famous scenic spots such as Jinli, Kuanzhai Street, Tianfu Square and Chengdu Panda Base. There also stands Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage, the Temple of Zhu Geliang and some other places of historical interest. Among them, my must-go place is Kuanzhai Street. Because I can not only walk on the ancient streets but also buy something in traditional houses or stores there. I nearly go there three to four times a month. Besides, as Chengdu people are fond of eating, they have created many delicious food such as Zhong Boiled Dumplings, Dandan Noodles, Lai Tangyuan and some others. If you come here, don’t miss the must-try food, Dandan Noodles. Because the gravy of the noodles is really special and delicious. I eat Dandan Noodles almost every day. Furthermore, watching a Sichuan Opera Show will also provide you with unforgettable and precious memories. The delicate face-changing in Sichuan Opera has become a symbol of Sichuan culture. At the same time, Chengdu also has comfortable weather for people who live there. Even the weather in winter is still warmer than many other cities in China.
I love Chengdu and I hope that my hometown will get more and more beautiful!
116.例文:
Dear David,
How is everything going? As you know, I’m in the school Volunteer Club.
Last Saturday we went to do volunteer work at the Children’s Hospital by bike. We were so excited to join them. The children in hospital were really cute. We worked in the hall of the hospital in the morning. We gave direction to the patients, and told them where to go for each department. In the afternoon, I gave many toys to the kids, sang and danced with them. I also told them stories and gave them encouragement. We know that those kids were very upset and lonely at hospital. The parents, the doctors and nurses in the hospital liked to see more people around them and talk to them. If you have time, please join us to be volunteers at the hospital. Send your care and love to the people who need it.
Best wishes for you!
Yours,
Tom
