/s/, /z/ and /?z/ are the three cmmn ways f prnuncing the endings f plural nuns.
When a wrd ends in /p/, /f/, /θ/, /t/ r /k/, the new ‘-(e)s’ ending is prnunced /s/.
When a wrd ends in a vwel sund r a viced cnsnant sund (except /z/, /?/and /?/), the new ‘-(e)s’ ending is prnunced /z/.
When a wrd ends in /s/, /z/, /?/, /?/, /?/ r /?/, the new ‘-(e)s’ ending is prnunced /?z/.
A1 Practise saying the singulars and plurals f these nuns. Take special care with the endings.
