My perfrmance was mre genuine because f my pain. I needed t shw my devtin even when I wasn’t n stage, s I apprached Mr. Ellisn, the drama club advisr. He tld me that casting (角色分配) will be psted tmrrw.“ Thank yu, sir,” I said, using the almst British prnunciatin f Hllywd stars in the 1940s. I was s sure that Mr. Ellisn wuld cast me as a princess.
The next mrning, I went t read the cast list. The twelve princesses were first, by number. I scanned frm One t Twelve, but nne by me. At the bttm f the casting list, my name finally appeared. My rle was a really small ne, an ld wman wh helped a sldier, nt ne f the princesses! I was desperately disappinted. Mr. Ellisn must have made a mistake! N ne else in the schl had my skills r preparatin!.
I fund him in his classrm, but he insisted there was n mistake and emphasized that every rle in a play was imprtant. Unable t accept the fact, I burst int tears. Mr. Ellisn managed t calm me dwn and encuraged me t have a try in the rehearsal (排練).
