Part f the prblem was that I nly knew hw t ck by fllwing recipes. And up until maybe 5 r10 years ag, the number f English-language recipes fr Chinese dishes yu culd find in a ckbk r n the Internet still felt extremely limited— at least when it came t hmey, everyday recipes written with a yunger Chinese American audience in mind.
That was the experience, t, fr sisters Sarah and Kaitlin Leung. Like s many ther ABCs(American-brn Chinese) and yunger first-and secnd-generatin Chinese immigrants(移民), the Leung sisters reached a pint in their adult lives when they started t lve t eat the fd they’d grwn up n, but fund it really difficult t learn hw t prepare it.
As it turns ut, thugh, the Leung sisters were uniquely psitined t d smething abut it: Their father had spent years cking at his family’s Chinese American takeut restaurant. Their mm had deep knwledge abut traditinal Shanghainese cking. Meanwhile, the tw sisters had grwn up in New Yrk, eating their parents’ fd, but als immersed(沉浸) in America’s wn fd culture.
S, in 2013, the Leungs started a fd blg(博客) “The Wks f Life”. What made their blg different frm ther blgs was that the intergeneratinal transfer f knwledge that the Leungs were s eager fr was baked right int the cncept: The fur family members tk turns psting recipes, each sharing their wn favrites. Althugh they dn’t like admitting it, bth f my parents culdn’t g withut their phnes as I d.
Grwing up, we are repeatedly reminded that we are thse wh prefer t text ur friends in the same rm rather than make eye cntact with them. We are ruining the English language because we like using heart-eyes emjis(表情符號(hào)) instead f spelling it ut. And even thugh I can recgnize myself as a scial media(媒體) addict. I think parents shuld at least cnsider that nt nly the yung generatin, but als they like phnes.
I get upset when I receive the “I’ll be with yu shrtly” line frm a parent. But at the same time, leaving the rm t wait until my father is finished with his “serius business” has nw becme the nrm.
Whether yu want t escape yur nisy children fr a while, r want t stay up late tapping thrugh Twitter, all f these are cmmn. But yu shuld fully understand it. We--yur children--knw hw addictive it can be and hw difficult it is t turn it ff. If yu’ve ever emerged frm the shwer r returned frm yur walk with a clever idea r a slutin t a prblem yu had been struggling with, it may nt be a surprise. Nw researchers begin t understand why these clever thughts ccur during mre passive activities and what’s happening in the brain. They have fund that the key is a series f brain activities— within what’s called the default mde(DM) netwrk— that ccur while an individual is resting r perfrming habitual tasks that dn’t require much attentin.
“Simply put, it is a state that yur brain returns t when yu’re relaxed,” explains Christff. “By cntrast, when yu’re wrking n a demanding task, the brain’s executive cntrl(EC) systems keep yur thinking fcused, analytical, and lgical.”
Researchers find that the DM netwrk is als invlved in the carly stages f idea generatin, drawing frm past experiences and knwledge abut the wrld. When yur mind wanders, yu’re allwing thughts t playfully crss yur mind, which helps yu cmbine infrmatin and ideas in new ways and smething clicks.
“A cautinary nte: While the DM net, wrk plays a key rle in the creative prcess, it is the EC systems that help yu t evaluate and apply the creative ideas effectively t yur prblems in the real wrld,” Christff says. “S it’s unwise t place blind faith in the discvery that creative ideas can be generated in the shwer r during any ther kinds f mind wandering. Instead, yu have t d the wrk t set the grundwrk fr creative ideas t emerge in the first place.”
32.What is the mst unlikely functin f the EC systems?

C.T let yu get creative ideas.D.T keep yu fcused.
33.What des the underlined part “smething clicks” in Paragraph 5 prbably mean?

35.Which statement might the authr agree with?
