Let’s ask what time the band starts         (play).[Alice and He Wei walk up to a staff person at the door.]He Wei: Excuse me, could you tell us when the band starts playing this evening?        (管理人員): Eight o’clock. The restaurant is always busy, so come a little          (early) to get a table. He Wei: OK. Thank you!31Unit 3 Section B 2bCould you please ...?When you visit a foreign country, it is important to know how to ask for help        (polite). For example, you may ask “Where are the restrooms?” or “Could you please tell me where the restrooms are?” These are similar         (請求) for         (方向). Both are         (正確的), but the first one sounds       polite. That is because it is a very         (directly) question. It is not enough to just ask a question correctly. We also need to learn how to be polite when we ask for help. Good         (講話人) change the way they speak in different situations. The expressions they use might depend on         they are speaking to or how well they know each other. It is all right to ask your classmates direct questions because you know them well. However, if you say to your teacher, “When is the school trip?”, this might sound        (polite). But if you say, “Excuse me, Mr. West. Do you know when the school trip is?”, this will sound much more polite.Usually polite questions are longer. They include expressions such as “Could you please ...?” or “May I ask ...?” It sounds more polite to say, “Peter, could you please tell me your e-mail        ?” than “Peter, tell me your e-mail address.” Sometimes we even need to spend time         (lead) into a request. For example, we might first say to a         (陌生人), “Excuse me, I wonder if you can help me” or “I’m sorry to trouble you, but ...” before         (ask) for help.It might seem more difficult to speak politely than directly. However, it is important to learn how to use the right language in different situations. This will also help you         (交流) better with other people.評卷人得分  六、短文選詞填空用方框中所給單詞的適當(dāng)形式填空,使短文完整正確。每個單詞限用一次,每空只填一個單詞。direct,  pass,  polite,  speak,  suggest,  I,  correct,  rush,  who,  besideDo you know how to ask for directions politely in foreign countries? At this point, we are not native (當(dāng)?shù)氐?/span>)     32    , so knowing it can make us stay there much easier. The way we ask for     33     may influence the answers we get. Here is some advice for you.Use greetings and polite expressions.Starting the conversation with a greeting is a must. If you want to get a nice explanation from a person     34     you meet with, begin by saying hello first. For example, if you want help from a person who is     35     by, you can say such as “Hello!”, “Good afternoon!” or “Pardon     36    , could you please help me?”.Know how to ask a question     37    .Use proper words and try not to leave any information out. It is a good     38     to use some modal verbs. For example, you can ask like “Excuse me! May I ask you how to get to the Eaton Centre?”. This sounds     39     than “Hi! How to get to the Eaton Centre?”.Don’t be afraid of using landmarks.Every city in the world has its own landmarks. You can save some time if you know what the important landmarks are in the city. For example, in London, the main landmark is Big Ben. You can say “My friend told me it is near and     40      Big Ben, but I can’t find it.”There is no need     41     quickly to the place you will go, or you may get lost. And don’t laugh at yourself if you truly get lost. We may all get lost now and then, especially when visiting a new city! 提示詞品味enjoy;展品exhibition;展覽:on displayDear Clark, I am happy to know that you are coming to Binzhou!
