本課時(shí)通過(guò)向?qū)W生展示一組有關(guān)環(huán)境污染的圖片導(dǎo)入新課,組織學(xué)生討論本單元的話題“保護(hù)環(huán)境”,激發(fā)他們的學(xué)習(xí)興趣。通過(guò)聽(tīng)力練習(xí),提升學(xué)生快速獲取信息的能力并進(jìn)一步了解各種污染。通過(guò)朗讀對(duì)話,提升學(xué)生的朗讀能力,培養(yǎng)在日常生活中保護(hù)環(huán)境的意識(shí)。指導(dǎo)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)新知識(shí)點(diǎn),積累英語(yǔ)基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)。最后,設(shè)置對(duì)應(yīng)練習(xí),檢查和鞏固學(xué)生所學(xué)的基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)和語(yǔ)言技能。

Show some pictures about pollution to class. And ask them to talk about them in English.

Step 2 Presentation
Work on 1a.
1. Here are some words related to different kinds of pollution. Write them in the box below.

Work on 1b.
1. Before listening, ask the students to read the sentences and try to guess the missing words.
2. Ask them to listen to the recording and complete the sentences.
3. Play recording again for the students to check their answers.
4. Check the answers.

Step 4 Discussion
Work on 1c.
1. Ask the students to work in pairs. Role-play the conversation.
Mark: The river was dirty. Even the bottom of the river was full of rubbish.
Tony: But it used to be so clean!
Mark: Yes, but people are throwing litter into the river.
Tony: Everyone in this town should play a part in cleaning it up!
2. Tell the students to make their own conversations about the kinds of pollution in 1a.
Step 5 Listening
Work on 2a.
1. Before listening, ask the students to read the different kinds of pollution.

2. Play the recording and ask the students to circle the kinds of pollution that Jason and Susan talk about.
3. Check the answers.

1. Play the recording again and ask the students to complete the sentences.

2. Show the tapescript to the class and explain some difficult sentences.

Interviewer: Today we’re talking to Jason and Susan about environmental problems. Jason and Susan, can you tell us about some of the problems you’ve seen?
Jason: I think one problem is that the air is badly polluted. I hardly ever see blue skies anymore.
Susan: Yes, and I used to see the stars clearly.
Interviewer: What do you think has caused this problem?
Susan: Well, there are more cars on the road these days.
Jason: And factories that burn coal also pollute the air with a lot of black smoke.
Interviewer: What other problems do you see?
Susan: I guess there’s too much rubbish and waste in the streets.
Jason: Yes! Every day people are throwing away things like wooden chopsticks, plastic bowls and plastic bags.
Susan: They’re also littering in public places, for example, during picnics in parks. This is turning beautiful places into ugly ones.
Interviewer: You’re right. These are serious problems for our environment. Next, let’s talk about the things we can do to help.
Step 6 Practice
Work on 2c.
Use the information in 2a and 2b to role-play conversations between Jason and Susan.
1. Ask the students to role-play the conversation with their partners.
2. Encourage some pairs to present their conversation.
Step 7 Role-play
Work on 2d.
1. Play the recording of the conversation.
2. Ask the students to read the conversation after the recording.
3. Explain some important language points of this part.
4. Ask them to read the conversation on their own.
5. Role-play the conversation in pairs.
6. Divide the class into three groups and ask them to role-play the conversation.
7. Complete the chart.

Step 8 Language points
1. But it used to be so clean! 但它過(guò)去如此干凈!
used to意為“過(guò)去常常”,強(qiáng)調(diào)過(guò)去經(jīng)常發(fā)生,但現(xiàn)在不再發(fā)生。后接動(dòng)詞原形。
My family used to live in the countryside, but now we live in the city.
我家過(guò)去住在鄉(xiāng)下,但現(xiàn)在我們住在城市里。
He didn’t use to like vegetables.
他過(guò)去不喜歡蔬菜。
[注意] be used to意為“習(xí)慣于”,to是介詞,后接名詞、代詞或動(dòng)詞-ing形式。
My father is used to getting up early.
我父親習(xí)慣于早起床。
2. …we should take the bus or subway instead of driving.
……我們應(yīng)該乘坐公共汽車(chē)或地鐵而不是開(kāi)車(chē)。
instead of是短語(yǔ)介詞,意為“代替;而不是”,其后可跟名詞、代詞或動(dòng)名詞形式,否定of后的內(nèi)容。
I can attend to the meeting instead of my sick brother.
我可以代替我生病的弟弟參加會(huì)議。
[拓展] instead是副詞,常位于句末。位于句首時(shí),其后有逗號(hào),肯定instead所在句的內(nèi)容。
He didn’t reply. Instead, he left the room. 他沒(méi)回答,反而離開(kāi)了房間。
3. It’s good for health and it doesn’t cost anything! 那對(duì)健康有好處,并且沒(méi)有什么花費(fèi)!
cost (cost,cost)及物動(dòng)詞,意為“花費(fèi)”。常用搭配為sth. cost(s) sb. some money,意為“某物花費(fèi)某人多少金錢(qián)”。
The computer cost me 3, 000 yuan. 這臺(tái)電腦花費(fèi)了我3 000元。
4. And remember to throw rubbish in the bins and keep public places clean and beautiful for everyone. 記得把垃圾扔進(jìn)垃圾桶里,為了大家要保持公共場(chǎng)所干凈美觀。
辨析:remember to do sth.與remember doing sth.
remember to do sth.
記得去做某事(事情還沒(méi)有做)
Remember to bring your homework to school.
記得把你的家庭作業(yè)帶到學(xué)校來(lái)。

記得做過(guò)某事(事情已經(jīng)做了)
I remember closing the window.我記得關(guān)上窗戶了。

make a difference (to…)意為“(對(duì)……)產(chǎn)生影響或作用”。
