Finding time t d bth hmewrk and exercise is getting easier fr students at a grwing number f schls. Wrkut machines are appearing in many schl libraries. The latest schl t fix the Fit Desk Bike Desk is Try University, which nw has a ttal f six in the libraries. Over the past three years, the Bike Desks have als been fixed at fur ther universities.
The idea f pushing “active wrkplaces" is far frm new. Frm standing ffices t treadmill(跑步機(jī))meetings, cmpanies have been explring the benefits f getting emplyees up frm their desks—benefits that include higher mrale (士氣)and imprved wrk perfrmance. And a recent study that fcuses n yunger children suggests a strng cnnectin between physical activities and gd grades.
Chris Shaffer, wh is the directr f library services at Try University, says he thught it wuld be wrth experimenting with the machines. “The final gal is t make the library a welcming place that ur students want t visit", says Shaffer, “If we can find a way t let ur students study and becme healthier at the same time, then I am all fr it. ” He says the experiment is s successful s far that the university has rdered three additinal Bike Desks.
Try junir Niquette says the bikes have been in use every day he has visited the library. “Keeping a prper diet and exercise schedule during cllege is near impssible, "he says, “These ffer a special way t study and I hpe the university cntinues t add mre." Senir Raven hasn't used the Bike Desks yet but says she wishes they'd been fixed sner. “I remember being a junir and the gym is s crwded, with the smell f sweat, lud music and peple mving arund," Raven says, “I think the machines are a great idea. Yu can d sprts quietly while thers fcus n their study.

I have been passinate abut sewing and fashin design since I was 12. Tw years ag, I designed and made a set f utfits frm recyclable materials fr a charity fashin shw. Thrugh this highly meaningful and prfund experience, I became sensitized t the imprtance f prtecting and preserving ur envirnment when designing and making fashin items, resulting in my funding an rganizatin t prmte ec-friendly design and fashin.
My interest has led me t research areas f fashin that have envirnmental implicatins. Fr example, sme ppular clthing stres have annunced merchandizing plicies designed t imprve the envirnment. Fr thse f us wh are ec-cnscius, it is incumbent upn us t evaluate whether such plicies are just a marketing ply, r represent genuine effrts t prtect ur envirnment.
Three chain-stres, H&M, Urban Outfitters and Frever 21, have been prmting "green" items. After I examined their prducts, I have cncluded that H&M and Urban Outfitters are truly helping the envirnment with their effrts, while Frever 21 seems t be using the 'g green' trend as a way t sell mre prducts, rather than genuinely help the envirnment.
Of these three stres, H&M has the mst extensive ec-fashin plans. It is already well n its way t implementing its plans by increasingly blending rganic cttn int their garments, as well as putting fully rganic cttn items n the market. The stre als belngs t the Organic Exchange Organizatin, which endrses grwth f rganic cttn. T reduce the substantial harm frm nn-rganic cttn prductin, H&M is invlved with the Better Cttn Initiative. Mindful f the adverse effects f climate change, the stre aims t minimize transprtatin and energy usage. H&M labels their ec-friendly prducts with an fficial symbl, the Flwer, t represent a prductin system that is less harmful than mst traditinal prcesses. Because f these actins and plicies, H&M is already well n its way t making a difference n the envirnment.
With its Urban Renewal brand, Urban Outfitter takes a different apprach frm H&M in prmting ec-friendly fashin. The brand features wmen's apparel made frm strictly envirnmentally-friendly surces, such as vintage, dead stck, r surplus clthing. Urban Renewal prduces fashinable garments, and embraces being ec-friendly thrugh recycling.
Unlike the ther tw stres abve, Frever 21's ec-fashin effrts fall shrt; a cynic wuld say their message is dwnright misleading. It prmtes the "'green" image, and yet many f their suppsed ec-friendly prducts d nt help the envirnment. Fr example, it sells a "Think Green Tte" that, accrding t the site, is meant "t send an envirnmentally friendly message". Hwever, it is made f 100% nn-rganic cttn which is ne f the mst damaging fabrics t the envirnment, mstly because it requires greater chemical interventin cmpared t rganic cttn. Als, the "I Lve My Planet Tte" is suppsed t "make a psitive statement," but is als made f 100% cttn that is nt rganic. The nly tte that is envirnmentally-friendly is the "H81 Organic Cttn Tte" frm Frever 21's Heritage brand, made frm 100% rganic cttn. Nw that Frever 21 has prtrayed itself as being "green," it shuld start "walking the walk."
28. The authr writes the texts simply t ____.
A. state we shuld take actin but nt play tricks in eclgical prtectin
B. appeal t Frever 21 nt t use cmmercial campaign illegally
C. remind us f the damage t the envirnment f traditinal prcesses
D. analyze the cncept f ec-friendly design and fashin

A. the Frever 21 has already been n its way t transfrm its negative image
B. the writer publicly urges the Frever 21 t put its campaign int practice
C. all the custmers are trying nt t walk int the Frever 21 t buy prducts
D. the envirnmental prblem is s serius that we shuld pay mre attentin

A. giving cncrete figures B. shwing cause and effect
