The days that make us happy make us wise.
--- Jhn Masefield
When I first read this line by England's Pet Laureate, it 76 me. What did Masefield mean? Withut thinking abut it much, I had always assumed that the 77 was true. But his serius assurance was 78 . I was deeply attracted by it.
Slwly, I seemed t 79 his meaning and realized the wisdm that happiness makes pssible lies in clear perceptin(洞察力), nt 80 by anxiety nr dimmed by despair and bredm, and withut the blind 81 caused by fear.
Active happiness---nt mere satisfactin r 82 ---ften cmes suddenly, like an April shwer r the unflding f a bud. Then yu discver what kind f wisdm has 83 it. Amazingly, in yur eyes, the grass is greener; bird sngs are sweeter; the 84 f yur friends are mre understandable, and mre frgivable. Happiness is like a pair f eyeglasses crrecting yur 85 visin.
Nr are the 86 f happiness limited t what is near arund yu. Unhappy, with yur thughts fcused n yur emtinal wes (痛苦) , yur visin is cut shrt as thugh blcked by a wall. Happy, the wall 87 .
Cnsequently, the lng visin is there fr the seeing. The grund at yur feet, the wrld abut yu---peple, thughts, emtins, pressures---are nw 88 a larger scene. Everything cvers a fairer 89 . Everything arund yu, whether it is encuraging r frustrating, n lnger seems such a big deal. And here is the beginning f 90 .

My wife and I usually dn’t keep huseplants. Anything in pts gets either verwatered r underwatered. But after my diagnsis with a brain cancer, I lved the idea f having smething green and 91 arund us.

“I can’t even care fr a simple plant!” I yelled. “If my lucky bamb dies, I might die t!”
Identifying with the green and grwing plant had ffered me 99 . But when the tree was struggling, I felt increasingly uneasy and 100 .
It was several mnths later when I recvered frm surgery that I realized I had 101 linked my careful nurturing f the plant — smething ver which I had at least sme cntrl — with my wn 102 — smething ver which I had n cntrl.
As my 103 lessened, I began t study nline tutrials t figure ut hw t care fr the tree. I 104 it t a larger pt, and when it was back in the sunny windw, we bth began t thrive (旺盛) again.
Nw whenever I lk at the tree in its new pt, I make a pint t relax and think f the things I can 105 .
