In rder t fster appreciatin fr the art f calligraphy and prvide a platfrm fr students t shw their handwriting skills, ur schl held a New Year’s Chinese Calligraphy Cmpetitin last week.
100 excellent calligraphy wrks selected frm each class were displayed in the Art Hall. All the students vted t decide n the winners. Besides, several calligraphy masters were invited t write n the spt, presenting their superb handwriting skills, which attracted many students t watch, applauding and cheering.
This calligraphy cmpetitin was a great success. One participant said that it was such a meaningful activity and he hped there wuld be mre similar activities t prmte traditinal Chinese culture.

Hwever, withut warning, my strength was running ut. I cntinued t run even thugh my lungs fught t take in enugh air and my feet transfrmed int cement bricks. When the finish line came in sight, I wanted t run at full speed t the glry but my knees and legs gave way. They were as weak as jelly. Even thugh I knew my dreams f making it t the tp fifteen had been destryed, I had t finish the race. With all f the strength left in me, I dragged my feet mving slwly, eventually acrss the finish line. Shame flded ver me as Dad pulled me int his arms.
I lwered my head, saying, “I’m s srry I disappinted yu, Dad.” He gave me a gentle smile and said. “Yu culd never disappint me. Smetimes these things just happen. All that matters is that yu did yur best.” Lifting my face, I saw my dad’s eyes, in which I saw the sweat, the time and the wrk we had put int ur dream. The miles we had run tgether, all fr this race, flashed acrss my mind. “But we wrked s hard. What abut ur dream?” I asked. At that mment, the wrld std still. He reached ver fr my hand hlding back his wn tears and said. “Dn’t yu knw that yu already made my dream cme true?”

M: When I was abut ne year ld, my mther taught my brther and I t paint. As a teenager, I drew small cmics abut the subject with my friends. By the age f 25, I had chsen t be a full-time graffiti artist.

M: It’s just such a great prcess. I just make myself cmpletely invlved in this free-flwing state f creatin, and experience the jy f creatin.

Mst yung peple like t enjy playing n their smartphnes in their spare time. But Li Ruxue is different. He ften des sme research in a frest and islates himself frm the utside wrld. In his cllege years, Li actively tk part in field research with his teachers. After graduatin, he jined a gibbn prtectin rganizatin, where ne f his majr respnsibilities was picking up gibbn feces. Thrugh analyzing the DNA frm the feces, researchers can prtect them better. S ver the past fur and a half years, Li has fllwed gibbns and cllected their feces fr researchers. Thugh the wrk is a bit tiring, it’s meaningful fr him. He has never regretted his chice r felt alne. Like Li, Chu Wenwen has als wrked t prtect animals. As her father is engaged in wildlife research, Chu has lng been surrunded by wild animals. After graduating frm university in 2017, she decided t fllw in her father’s ftsteps. She thinks she is lucky t live in such a great era when yung peple can fulfill their aspiratins, and the cuntry strngly supprts the nature cnservatin.
