【2024新課標Ⅰ卷】Is cmprehensin the same whether a persn reads a text nscreen r n paper? And are listening t and viewing cntent as effective as reading the written wrd when cvering the same material? The answers t bth questins are ften “n”. The reasns relate t a variety f factrs, including reduced cncentratin, an entertainment mindset (心態(tài)) and a tendency t multitask while cnsuming digital cntent.
When reading texts f several hundred wrds r mre, learning is generally mre successful when it’s n paper than nscreen. A large amunt f research cnfirms this finding. The benefits f print reading particularly shine thrugh when experimenters mve frm psing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — t nes that require mental abstractin — such as drawing inferences frm a text.
The differences between print and digital reading results are partly related t paper’s physical prperties. With paper, there is a literal laying n f hands, alng with the visual gegraphy f distinct pages. Peple ften link their memry f what they’ve read t hw far int the bk it was r where it was n the page.
But equally imprtant is the mental aspect. Reading researchers have prpsed a thery called “shallwing hypthesis (假說)”. Accrding t this thery, peple apprach digital texts with a mindset suited t scial media, which are ften nt s serius, and devte less mental effrt than when they are reading print.
Audi (音頻) and vide can feel mre engaging than text, and s university teachers increasingly turn t these technlgies — say, assigning an nline talk instead f an article by the same persn. Hwever, psychlgists have demnstrated that when adults read news stries, they remember mre f the cntent than if they listen t r view identical pieces.
Digital texts, audi and vide all have educatinal rles, especially when prviding resurces nt available in print. Hwever, fr maximizing learning where mental fcus and reflectin are called fr, educatrs shuldn’t assume all media are the same, even when they cntain identical wrds.
29. What des the shallwing hypthesis assume?
A. Readers treat digital texts lightly.B. Digital texts are simpler t understand.
C. Peple select digital texts randmly.D. Digital texts are suitable fr scial media.
31. What des the authr imply in the last paragraph?

(24-25高三上·安徽·期中)If yu enjy imagining yurself dancing in the rain r standing at the frnt f a cruise ship, yu might be experiencing what’s called “main character syndrme.”
In psychlgy, “narrative identity” refers t hw peple view themselves in the stries f their lives. While it was traditinally believed that mst peple see themselves as the main character, many might instead cnsider themselves as minr r side characters in a larger narrative.
The researchers designed tw experiments t examine hw narrative identity influences the satisfactin f basic psychlgical needs. In the first experiment, 385 undergraduate students rated their self-perceptin (自我認知) as either majr r minr characters. The secnd experiment invlved 298 participants wh described their gals and mtivatins, fllwed by writing a stry where they assumed themselves as the lead.
The test revealed that participants wh perceived themselves as a majr character experienced significantly increased levels f need satisfactin and well-being. In cntrast, thse wh see themselves as minr characters are mre likely t feel frustrated in getting these needs satisfied. Thse with higher majr character perceptins tended t set gals that clsely reflect their values and shwed higher levels f self-mtivatin.
In a running TV shw, a TikTk user says: “I started living my life s every day was part f the plt. When yu live yur life like the ‘main character’, everything bad that happens cmpletely changes and it ges ‘well f curse, this is just fr the plt?’” Likewise, since 2019 the phrase “rmanticise yur life” has been a frequent call fr peple t act mre like the main character f their wn persnal TV shw. And while these ideas might lack scientific backing, they d mirrr the researchers’ cre finding that majr character perceptin is linked t increased agency.

(24-25高三上·全國·階段練習)Real-time water quality mnitrs are being installed (安裝) at wild swimming spts and beaches acrss suthern England t help peple assess their immediate risk f getting ill frm plluted water. This initiative fllws a successful pilt study at Warleigh Weir near Bath, where an AI-based system accurately predicted high bacterial (細菌) levels 87% f the time.
Wessex Water is installing sensrs at three freshwater sites in Drset, Smerset and Hampshire. Rather than measuring bacteria directly, it infers when levels f E cli r enterccci are high, by analyzing data frm real-time sensrs placed upstream, that measure pH, temperature, disslved xygen and ammnia.
One f the systems the cmpany tested was an AI-based apprach develped by the UK-based startup UnifAI Technlgy. During an initial training perid f abut six mnths, river water samples are repeatedly tested fr bacteria levels, and the AI learns t crrelate these with patterns in the sensr data. After this perid, members f the public are given access t a cnvenient app that gives half-hurly predictins n bacteria levels in the river, and issues a water-quality warning when bacterial levels are likely t be high.
The campaign grup River Actin UK bradly welcmed the technlgy. “We need the envirnmental regulatrs t use pllutin data as evidence f malpractice (瀆職) t strengthen enfrcement f the law and hld plluters t accunt. Only when it becmes less expensive t bey the law than breaking it will we see the necessary investment in maintaining and upgrading sewage (污水) treatment wrks,” said River Actin’s chief executive, James Wallace.

Passage 9
(2024·廣東佛山·一模)Peple ften think that scientific discveries cme frm the geniuses like Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein. Such a view verlks the effrts f lesser-knwn pineers. Als, ppular belief hlds that the sudden idea is the key t making scientific breakthrughs, as if it just appears in smene’s mind.
This pinin might be partially true. It desn’t accurately represent the true nature f scientific breakthrughs. Apart frm, the great figures such as Darwin and Einstein, whse cntributins are rightly recgnized — we believe innvatin is largely a trial-and-errr prcess, where tw steps frward may smetimes cme with ne step back r even mre steps t the right r left.
Take Jhn Nichlsn, a lesser-knwn scientist frm the 1910s. He was a mathematical physicist wh suggested the idea f ‘prt-elements’ in space. By mixing different weights f these atms, he culd recver the weights f the elements in the peridic table. Thugh prt-elements dn’t actually exist, Nichlsn’s wild ideas led him t prpse a new thery abut atmic structure. Niels Bhr, the Nbel prize-winning father f mdern atmic thery, later built n this idea t develp his famus mdel f the atm.
What can we learn frm this stry? Science is always evlving, similar t the evlutin f animal species. Just randm r unexpected changes f ideas may pen the dr fr advances in science. Supprt fr this idea can be seen in many areas. Fr example, in US hrse racing, the ‘a(chǎn)cey-deucy’ stirrup placement, where the rider’ s left ft is placed lwer than the right ft, prvides a speed advantage n val tracks. It was created by a little-knwn rider named Jackie Westrpe. Had Westrpe dne careful research t develp this technique? N. He had a leg injury that prevented him frm fully bending his left knee. This change just happened t imprve his left-hand turning perfrmance. As a result, many riders quickly adpted the acey-deucy style, which is still used in racing tday.
Many ther examples shw science prgress ften cmes frm mistakes, accidents, r pure luck. It’s time t abandn the naive beliefs f genius and explre the true causes f creativity.
33.What is the purpse f paragraph 1?
A.T supprt specific ideas.
B.T describe a cmmn belief.
C.T cmpare certain beliefs.
D.T challenge a ppular view.
34.What des the writer imply abut Darwin and Einstein in paragraph 2?
A.They set an example fr thers t fllw.
B.Their way f wrking has been misunderstd.
C.They are exceptins t the usual rule.
D.Their achievements deserve greater recgnitin.
