In less than fur years, I became ne f the tp sales peple at my branch and increased persnal sales by 1,700 percent. The success earned me a six-figure incme, prmtin and numerus sales awards.
Tward the end f my furth year at Merrill Lynch, it hit me that smething was missing. I thught lng and hard abut my gals. Then I was reminded f the time when I spke t hundreds f peple, while in cllege as a student leader, and years later, when I wn a “Humrus Speech” champinship. It dawned n me that every time I had a speaking engagement, I always came ut f the experience with a wnderful, energetic, peaceful and magical feeling that was unmatched by anything else I did. Many peple have a t rsy view f the beverage and are surprised when cnfrnted with the facts abut it n a nutritin label, accrding t ur recent study.
Right nw, peple usually think f red wine as a “virtue” rather than a “vice”, thanks t ppular belief abut its health benefits. But requiring nutritin labels, which are currently vluntary, culd change thse views.
In ur experimental research which included nearly 800 participants, we fund that American cnsumers aren’t used t seeing nutritin infrmatin n wine labels, and mst are surprised by what they read since they dn’t assciate wine with calries, carbhydrates and sugar. Nutritin labels dn’t need t be bad news fr the wine industry. Wine sales have recently declined amng thse aged 60 and yunger, and greater transparency in labeling culd help rekindle yung cnsumers’ interest. Millennial and Gen Z cnsumers may especially appreciate clearer labels, since they culd help them view wine as less mysterius and mre accessible. They may als allw them t fit an ccasinal glass f wine int their persnal health gals.
What’s mre, there’s been a recent trend tward wine packaging including labels like “rganic” and “sustainable”, which may appeal t cnsumers’ preference fr sustainability. These labels have less t d with nutritin than with manufacturers trying t appear ec-friendly—but makers f natural wine wuld likely benefit mst frm ffering nutritin infrmatin.
And there’s still mre t learn abut hw nutritin labels affect behavir. Studies have shwn mixed results, but n the whle, labeling appears t make peple cut their calrie intake smewhat. Still, the U. S. put nutritin labels n fds in the 1990s, and that hasn’t stpped the besity rate frm rising.

D. Nutritin labels change peple’s views n red wine.
9.Wh might benefit mst frm the new trend tward wine packaging?
A. Wine stres.B. The gvernment.
C. Mass custmers.D. Natural wine prducers.
10.What d Paragraph 5 and Paragraph 6 mainly fcus n?
A. The benefits f wine labeling.B. Plicy changes n wine labeling.
C. The dwnside f wine labeling.D. Peple’s attitudes tward wine labeling.
11.Why des the authr mentin the U. S. nutritin labels in the last paragraph?
