I teach high schl histry t a grup f sixteen-t eighteen-year-lds. One particular student, Emily, is dangerusly clse t failing nt nly the entire curse but the end-f-year exam. She must pass the curse. Otherwise, she wuld have t repeat the entire year. That’s really a pity. She is the type f student wh is incredibly bright, switched n and engaging. But she’s been hanging ut with sme naughty kids since her parents divrced. It was a grup f students wh didn’t lve learning and just wanted t have fun every day.
This part f the stry ccurred just after a paper was due. The paper was meant t assess just hw well the students knew the curse material that we had cvered befre the end-f-year exam. I handed ut everyne’s marked and graded paper except fr Emily’s, wh was sitting with her friend grup.
Lking at Emily, I said t her in a peaceful vice, “Emily, when I dismiss everyne else, I want t see yu privately, please.”
A cllective “h” hissed arund the class. Emily was bviusly a little bit wrried abut what this might be. I dismissed the class and sat ppsite Emily, her paper in my hand.
“S, hw d yu think yu did n yur paper?” I asked.
Emily replied, “It seems that I dn’t get the material, right? Why d yu always —”. But I gently interrupted with a warm smile, “Yu dn’t get it? That’s strange.”
“Actually, Emily, yu’ve surprised us all,” I said, turning the paper t reveal a big, fat A+ next t her name. “Because yur paper perfectly summarized the issues we discussed this semester abut class difference in the Victrian Era. Obviusly, this is yur area f expertise,” I explained.
Emily’s eyes widened in disbelief. “W-what?”
I cntinued, “Yur paper was the highest-scring ne I’ve ever had. I’m cmpletely serius.”

【答案】范文
Emily was bviusly shcked. Her muth drpped pen, and her hands instinctively reached fr the paper I was still hlding. Her eyes scanned the grade, then lked back at me in astnishment. “But, Mr. ..., I mean, I didn’t even think I passed!” she stammered. I culd see the wheels turning in her mind, prcessing the unexpected praise and the grade that didn’t align with her self-perceptin. Her face slwly lit up with a mix f disbelief and jy, as if she was seeing a new pssibility fr herself.
After this cnversatin, I nticed a big change in Emily. She started cming t class earlier, actively participating in discussins, and even initiating cnversatins abut histrical tpics utside f class. Her grades sared, and she became a mdel student fr her peers. The influence f her previus friend grup seemed t diminish as she fund new, like-minded friends wh valued educatin and persnal grwth. Emily’s transfrmatin was nthing shrt f remarkable, a testament t the pwer f psitive reinfrcement and the belief in ne’s ptential. She nt nly passed the curse but excelled, prving that with the right guidance and supprt, even the mst trubled students can shine.
