Orin Jean is a kid n a missin. His gal is t spread kindness and inspire thers t d the same.
It all started last year when Orin’s elementary schl teacher suggested that the then 9-year-ld enter the Natinal Kindness Speech Cntest. “I decided that I was just ging t give it a sht and see hw it wuld g,” Orin tells us. He gave a speech abut hw kindness culd “change a natin,” and wn the cmpetitin, receiving a $500 cash prize.
He quickly realized he wasn’t ging t use all f that mney. “I’m a kid,” he says, “I have everything that I culd ever want. But there are peple wh dn’t.”
Orin, wh says his parents always taught him that “kindness is a virtue that we shuld all try t pssess,” came up with the idea f the Race t Kindness campaign - a series f events t help thers. Orin describes the campaign as “just an idea where I wuld spread kindness and peple wuld be able t jin the race by spreading kindness in their wn cmmunities.” He decided t start by helping children with health prblems in the hspital, saying, “What better way t amuse a kid than a ty?” S, he used his winnings t buy as many tys as pssible and launched a ty fair t gather mre.
