I began learning Chinese when I was in high schl, using a traditinal methd f studying wrds, sentence structures, and grammar. I fund it easy t learn but was frustrated with the slw pace f all my Chinese classes. S I asked my teacher if I culd skip a level by the end f the semester. This was unsuccessful. Because the schl was unwilling t test me and prve that I culd be successful at the tp level after skipping a level. Then I had t be stuck in a class where I already knew the material.
Later I went n t cllege. I studied Chinese literature, culture, and linguistics. And I fund the in-depth study f literature a very useful way t imprve my Chinese. I als used my Chinese a lt utside f the classrm. I tk a trip t Shanghai with a grup, where I acted as an interpreter. I vlunteered t be a teacher in a cmmunity schl. There I used my Chinese t teach English t sme Chinese speakers. It was challenging, but it was als a lt f fun. This is prbably where I learned the mst!
