1. 形容詞用來修飾名詞或代詞，表示人或物的性質(zhì)、特征和狀態(tài)，在句中一般作定語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)或賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)等。

副詞用來修飾動(dòng)詞、形容詞、副詞、介詞短語(yǔ)或整個(gè)句子，表示時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)、方式、程度、動(dòng)作、頻率等，在句中主要作狀語(yǔ)。

Mary and Jane are quite different. (修飾形容詞)

2. 形容詞和副詞的比較級(jí)用于兩個(gè)人或事物之間的比較，最高級(jí)用于三個(gè)或三個(gè)以上人或事物之間的比較。比較的對(duì)象應(yīng)為同類，且不能相互包容，常用結(jié)構(gòu)為“比較級(jí)＋than＋比較對(duì)象”，“the＋最高級(jí)＋比較范圍”。
