Packing an Emergency Kit .
Pack a 3-day supply f nnperishable fd and water. Chse fd items with a lng shelf life, such as canned gds and packaged pantry items. Chse items that dn’t require refrigeratin, but als thse that require little cking in case yu dn’t have pwer due t a disaster. Stre 1 galln (3.8 L) f water per persn (and per pet) per day.
Include clthing, shes, and tiletries. Pack a 3-day supply f clthing (including multiple layers), scks, and an extra pair f shes fr each member f the family. Tiletries, like sap, shamp, feminine prducts, tilet paper, tthbrushes, tthpaste, and dedrant shuld als be included. Add diapers and wipes if yu have small children.
Add shelter and safety supplies. Pack emergency blankets, sleeping bags, and a tent r tw in case yu can’t stay in yur hme. A multipurpse tl (like a knife / file / pliers …), and a whistle wuld als be handy t have in yur kit.
Pack electrnics and batteries. Include several flashlights, an AM / FM radi, and extra batteries. Yu may als want t include a prepaid cell phne with a charger in case yur landline r cell phne desn’t wrk during a natural disaster.
Include medicine and a first aid kit. Prescriptin and ver-the-cunter medicines shuld be included in yur kit. Add a basic first aid kit cntaining instant ice packs, bandages, antiseptic intment, scissrs, tape, a suture kit, and s n. Pack extra glasses r cntact lenses and slutin, and any ther medical supplies that may be needed, like a cane r hearing aids with extra batteries.
