All animals carry germs. Sme viruses dn’t harm the animals in which they are typically fund. That’s because the hst species has encuntered this virus s ften that its immune system(免疫系統(tǒng)) has develped a way t keep the germ under cntrl. But if this virus later finds its way int a new species, it may cause serius disease.
Frm 1996 t 2020, Peel and her grup tracked where bats spent their time. Fr the first six years, there were n spillver events. But starting in 2003, the team nticed the bats’ ecsystem was changing. Sn after, spillvers started t shw up. Peel’s grup linked these events t perids when the bats culdn’t find enugh fd.
This happened in years that fllwed strng El Ni? events. This climate event causes trees that nrmally flwer in spring may nw fail t d s. Hungry bats will then leave their frests in search f fd. Sme may end up near farms where they can infect hrses and they may stay there until the fllwing winter.
But sme spillvers happened even during nn-El Ni? years. The researchers suspect this might be due t changes in tree cver. Over the curse f the study, large sectins f frest were cut dwn fr farming and husing. This reduced the number f trees that flwer in winter. Withut their main fd surce, hungry flying fxes shifted their behavir. Just as they did after El Ni? years, they nw spent mre time near farms in search f fd. It was after this shift that spillver events ccurred.

Hwever, Hllins believes the phenmenn that is mst clsely cnnected t the Mandela effect is that f “gist memry,” which is when smene has a general idea f smething but can’t necessarily remember the specifics. A cmmn example relates t the mnkey called Curius Gerge, a children’s bk character that first appeared in the 1940s, and his lack f a tail.

根據(jù)第二段中“All animals carry germs. Sme viruses dn’t harm the animals in which they are typically fund. That’s because the hst species has encuntered this virus s ften that its immune system(免疫系統(tǒng)) has develped a way t keep the germ under cntrl.(所有動物都攜帶細菌。
根據(jù)最后一段中“The researchers suspect this might be due t changes in tree cver. It was after this shift that spillver events ccurred.(研究人員懷疑這可能是由于樹木覆蓋的變化。
根據(jù)第二段中“Sme viruses dn’t harm the animals in which they are typically fund. That’s because the hst species has encuntered this virus s ften that its immune system(免疫系統(tǒng)) has develped a way t keep the germ under cntrl.(有些病毒不會傷害它們的宿主動物。
根據(jù)最后一段中“Withut their main fd surce, hungry flying fxes shifted their behavir. Just as they did after El Ni? years, they nw spent mre time near farms in search f fd. It was after this shift that spillver events ccurred.(沒有了主要的食物來源,饑餓的狐蝠改變了它們的行為。
C 33. C 34. A 35. D

根據(jù)文章倒數(shù)第二段“Hwever, Hllins believes the phenmenn that is mst clsely cnnected t the Mandela effect is that f “gist memry,” which is when smene has a general idea f smething but can’t necessarily remember the specifics.(然而,霍林斯認為,與曼德拉效應(yīng)最密切相關(guān)的現(xiàn)象是“主旨記憶”,即某人對某事有一個大致的想法,但不一定記得細節(jié)。)”以及最后一段““Remembering Curius Gerge as having a tail just reflects the fact that mst mnkeys have tails,” Hllins said. “If yu just remember the gist — it’s a mnkey — why wuldn’t yu remember him having a tail?”(“記住‘好奇的喬治’有尾巴只是反映了大多數(shù)猴子都有尾巴的事實?!
