Basic Infrmatin
Stne Muntain, Gergia, is the wrld’s largest expsed piece f granite (花崗巖). It is a rck f 7.5 billin cubic feet and it’s just a half-hur drive frm Atlanta. But it’s nt just the size f the muntain that attracts peple t visit. Stne Muntain’s impressive feature is the Cnfederate Memrial Carving. Three heres frm the Civil War have been carved int the rck: Cnfederate President Jeffersn Davis, General Rbert E. Lee, and General Thmas J. “Stnewall” Jacksn. The huge sculptures are surrunded by a carved surface that cvers three acres.

Stne Muntain can be visited by taking a cable car ride up the nrth face. Brave turists can hike alng varius paths t get clser t the amazing muntain. A visit t the tp uncvers rck pls and views f dwntwn Atlanta that seems clse enugh t tuch.
What t Visit
Lcated just utside the park’s west gate is Histric Stne Muntain Village. The village was established in 1839 and ffers mre than 50 specialty shps and restaurants. Turists can visit antique (古董) stres as well as shp fr art and jewelry created by lcal artisans.

The wrld itself is becming much smaller by using mdern traffic and mdern cmmunicatin means. Life tday is much easier than it was hundreds f years ag, but it has brught new prblems. One f the biggest prblems is pllutin. T pllute means t make things dirty. Pllutin cmes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Man has been plluting the earth. The mre peple, the mre pllutin. Many years ag, the prblem was nt s serius because there were nt s many peple. When the land was used up r the river was dirty in ne place, man mved t anther place. But this is n lnger true.
Man is nw slwly plluting the whle wrld.
Air pllutin is still the mst serius. It’s bad fr all living things in the wrld, but it is nt the nly ne kind f pllutin. Water pllutin kills ur fish and pllutes ur drinking water. Nise pllutin makes us angry mre easily.
Many cuntries are making rules t fight pllutin. They stp peple frm burning cal in huses and factries in the city, and frm putting dirty smke int the air. Pllutin by SO2 is nw the mst dangerus kind f air pllutin. It is caused by heavy traffic. We are sure that if there are fewer peple driving, there will be less air pllutin.
The earth is ur hme. We must take care f it. That means keeping the land, water and air clean. And we must take care f the rise in pllutin at the same time.
