My student Nick was discuraged with the assignment. I’d asked the students t imagine they were wrking at the U.S. Open tennis turnament. After the turnament ended, a supervisr ffered them the lightly used tennis balls hit during the event by stars like Serena Williams and Rger Federer. Their jb was t sell the balls fr a prfit.
“I had a cuple f gd ideas at first,” Nick said. “I culd sell them as dg tys r t hspitals that culd put them n the bttm f walker frames t keep them frm slipping.” Then he struggled t think f mre ptins and decided that was the best he culd d.

Seatrac is a system that was designed t slve this prblem. Seatrac is basically a chair n a mving ramp that can smthly carry a disabled persn int the sea .Once in the sea, the persn can either remain in the chair, enjying the water, r g fr a swim. The Seatrac system can help anyne wh has a hard time walking, including lder peple and pregnant wmen.
The chair is perated by remte cntrl. When the persn is ready t get ut f the water, the Seatrac system brings the chair back t the tp f the ramp. It’s even pssible t take a shwer in the Seatrac chair after ging fr a swim.
Seatrac was invented and develped by Mr. Ftiu, a prfessr and his partners at Greek university. They designed the system and in time, they frmed a cmpany called TOBEA t build and sell the systems. The cmpany wrked hard t make the system simple t put in place and easy t run. A wden walkway allws wheelchair users t reach the Seatrac. The system is slar pwered. It desn’t require utside pwer, and can cntinue t run even if the electricity ges ut. The Seatrac system can easily be packed up and stred when swimming seasn ends.
