Peru is famously known as the “l(fā)and of the Incas”. A trip to Peru has been on my wish list for quite a while. It was finally time for me to visit the country.
My first day started in Lima, the capital of Peru. I met with the G Adventures representative (代表) here about the tour. G Adventures is an organization that helps you to connect with other like-minded people in small group-based travel adventures. They played a big part in helping to make Peru an unforgettable experience for me! In Lima, my representative discussed the plan of my tour, and I also had the chance to explore Lima in my own time, with many activities, including a city tour, show, biking tour, and more.
Day two had me taking a flight from Lima to Cusco. Many people visit Cusco for shopping but for me, the main reason for spending a day or two in Cusco was to acclimatize (適應(yīng)) to the altitude (海拔). As I’d decided to reach the wonder of Machu Picchu, acclimatizing had become important to avoid altitude sickness. I was happy to spend a day exploring Cusco. Cusco was once the capital of the Inca Empire. Today, it’s famous for its artists, paintings, clothing and traditional instruments. There’s something for everyone in this city.
The day finally came! Day three had me enjoying a lovely guided visit to Machu Picchu at sunrise. I had free time to explore the city on my own as well as with my guide. It was a lot to take in! I had to stop for a moment and felt the energy of such an ancient city. The history here was unbelievable and I will never forget my time here for as long as I live!
4. What is the author’s attitude to G Adventures?
A. Doubtful. B. Satisfied.
C Uninterested. D. Hopeful.
5. Why did the author stay at Cusco?
A. To go shopping.
B. To find a local guide.
C. To get used to the high altitude.
D. To do research about the Inca Empire.
6. How did the author feel when traveling around Machu Picchu?
A. Full of excitement. B. Out of luck.
C. Lost in doubt. D. Deep in regret.
7. What is the best title for the text?
A. My love of traveling B. My wonderful trip to Peru
C. Peru: the “l(fā)and of the Incas” D. Traveling: the future of Peru

Smartphones, tablets and smart watches are banned (禁止) at school for all children under 15 in France. Under the ban students are not able to use their phones at all during school hours, including meal breaks.
“I think it’s a good thing. School is not about being on your phone” Paris mum Marie-Caroline Madeleine told AFP. “It’s hard with kids. You can’t control what they see and that’s one of the things that worry me as a parent.”
There is no law like this in Australia, but some Australian schools have banned phones.
McKinnon Secondary School in Victoria introduced a total ban in February and Principal Pitsa Binnion said this has been a success.
McKinnon students still have a Chromebook to use in every class for day-to-day learning but they’re not allowed to use social media. Ms Binnion said at first “teachers cheered and students moaned (抱怨) ,” but now they’re seeing the advantages. “They come to school and they’re not allowed to use phones at all during the school day, including lunch breaks,” she said.
“It’s been wonderful in terms of students communicating with each other at lunchtime and not looking at their screen,” she said.
Ms Binnion also leads by example and doesn’t use her mobile phone in school. “I think anyone can do it if we’ve done it.”
Not everyone agrees with the bans. Western Sydney University technology researcher Dr Joanne Orlando wrote in online magazine The Conversation earlier this year that Australia should not ban phones in schools because it’s important to educate kids to live in the age they are raised in.
“A good education for students today is knowing how to use technology to learn, communicate and work with ideas,” she wrote. “Banning students from using smartphones is a 1950s response to a 2018 state-of-play.”
8. Why did Madeleine welcome the ban?
A. School is for studying. B. Kids behave badly nowadays.
C. Teachers find it hard to control kids. D. Her kids depend too much on phones.
9. What can we learn about the ban in McKinnon Secondary School?
A. Some teachers were against it at first.
B. Students can now see the good of the ban.
C. Students can use their phones at lunch beaks.
D. Teachers have stopped using phones at school as well.
10. What does the underlined word “Chromebook” in Paragraph 5 probably refer to?
A A book. B. A notebook.
C. A learning website. D. A kind of computer.
11. What does Dr Joanne Orlando think of banning phones in schools?
A. It will disconnect parents and kids. B. It will cause kids to communicate less.
C. It will prevent kids being tech-minded. D. It will make education go back 60 years.
A 9. B 10. D 11. C

根據(jù)第二段中的“I think it’s a good thing. School is not about being on your phone,”可知,Madeleine認(rèn)為這是件好事,學(xué)校不是玩手機(jī)的地方,由此推知她認(rèn)為學(xué)校是學(xué)習(xí)的地方。
根據(jù)第五段中的“Ms Binnion said at first “teachers cheered and students moaned (抱怨) ,” but now they’re seeing the advantages.”
根據(jù)第五段中的“McKinnon students still have a Chromebook to use in every class for day-to-day learning but they’re not allowed to use social media.”
如第2小題“What can we learn about the ban in McKinnon Secondary School?”,題干要求回答“關(guān)于麥金農(nóng)中學(xué)的禁令我們了解到了什么”,題干關(guān)鍵詞為the ban in McKinnon Secondary School,那么我們?cè)诘谖宥沃械摹癕s Binnion said at first “teachers cheered and students moaned (抱怨), but now they’re seeing the advantages.”

Rock and roll music developed in the United States in the early nineteen-fifties. It was based on the music called rhythm and blues that was performed by African American musicians.
Early rock and roll singers developed their own kinds of music. Elvis Presley. Chuck Berry, The Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan were the most popular rock and roll musicians and band in the early 1960s. All were American. Then, in 1964, a new rock and roll group from England invaded America: The Beatles.
Some people say The Beatles’ music shook America like an earthquake. The Beatles changed rock and roll forever. Their early songs were influenced by American rock and roll musicians, including Chuck Berry. But The Beatles looked different and sounded different from any musical group before them.

The popularity of The Beatles led the way for more rock and roll bands from England to become popular in America. The Rolling Stones was the most important of these bands. The Rolling Stones is one of the few groups from the 1960s that is still performing and recording today. In 1965, the group recorded one of its most famous songs, Satisfaction.
By the 1970s, rock and roll music had become known as rock music. Experts say rock music regained some of the energy of early rock and roll. Bruce Springsteen and the E. Street Band became popular with their album Born to Run. Springsteen’s music was like the lively rock and roll music of the early nineteen-sixties. Many of his songs were about social issues. He sang about the effects of unemployment and the war in Vietnam
