The new and publicly-available ChatGPT is a type of AI that has been “trained” by looking at over 8 million web pages. When asked a question, ChatGPT uses this training to produce detailed answers that often seem like they were written by a human. You can ask it anything and it will give you answers to not only follow-up questions but also professional questions (although it does sometimes make mistakes). You can also ask it to write text, such as short stories or essays. The technology is so promising (有前途的) that some people believe it will overtake(超過) Google in the near future.
For many years it has been expected that AI will become an important part of our lives, and for just as long there have been concerns of the trouble that AI could cause. In the 20th century, scientists, philosophers and writers sometimes worried that AI would become too powerful. In the short story I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, a giant supercomputer has killed every human on earth except five people it keeps to torture(折磨). And in the 1984 film The Terminator, a powerful AI called Skynet uses time travel to send a robot into the past to try and kill the mother of a brave and strong fighter. On the other hand, some people were optimistic of advanced technologies’ potential (潛力) to build a better world. In the 1960s TV show Lost in Space, a family of humans were helped by a friendly robot named Robby.
Nowadays, there is less concern of an all-powerful AI trying to destroy the world, and we are not expecting friendly robots just yet. That doesn’t mean there is not a lot of excitement and concern being felt towards new technologies like AI, though. ChatGPT is a great example of a modern technology that is causing mixed feelings.
It’s too soon to say what kind of influence ChatGPT will have on our lives. Let’s hope that, if ChatGPT does become bigger and more popular, its effects are mostly positive. So, what do you think? Will ChatGPT be good, bad, or somewhere in between for humankind?
56. Why can ChatGPT produce detailed answers like they are from a human?
A. Scientists teach ChatGPT to talk like a human. B. ChatGPT has looked at over 8 million web pages.
C. ChatGPT depends on Google’s basic information. D. Many people answer the question on the Internet.
57. Which has a positive attitude towards AI??
A. Lost in Space B. The Terminator
C. Skynet D. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream
58. What does the underlined word “optimistic” mean in Chinese?
A. 先進的 B. 好奇的 C. 樂觀的 D. 片面的
59. Which is NOT true about ChatGPT according to the text?
A. ChatGPT can solve math problems. B. ChatGPT can take the place of humankind.
C. ChatGPT can communicate with people. D. ChatGPT can offer help in writing essays.
60. What opinion does the writer agree with?
A. People are always crazy about new technologies.
B. People become more worried about AI at present.
C. ChatGPT is a perfect AI technology with no doubt.
D. ChatGPT brings people a mixture of joy and worries.

59.推理判斷題。根據(jù)“Nowadays, there is less concern of an all-powerful AI trying to destroy the world(如今,人們很少擔(dān)心一個全能的人工智能試圖毀滅世界)”和“It’s too soon to say what kind of influence ChatGPT will have on our lives.(現(xiàn)在說ChatGPT會對我們的生活產(chǎn)生什么樣的影響還為時過早)”可知,目前為止,還無法判斷ChatGPT對我們生活的影響,所以“ChatGPT可以取代人類?!闭f法是錯誤的。故選B。
60.細節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)“That doesn’t mean there is not a lot of excitement and concern being felt towards new technologies like AI, though. ChatGPT is a great example of a modem technology that is causing mixed feelings.”(不過,這并不意味著人們對人工智能等新技術(shù)沒有太多的興奮和擔(dān)憂。ChatGPT是現(xiàn)代技術(shù)的一個很好的例子,它引起了復(fù)雜的感覺)可知,ChatGPT給人們帶來了歡樂和擔(dān)憂。故選D。

Will You Help Others?
Recently, there is an issue(議題) which has caught large numbers of net friends’ attention again. Three pupils helped an old man who fell to the ground and were framed(誣陷) by the fallen man that they had knocked him over. The man asked compensation(賠償) from the three pupils and even went to their homes to live. Most netters sympathize(同情) the three children and accuse(譴責(zé)) the man of making use of children’s kindness to cheat money. They also doubt whether nobody is going to help others in the future.
The three kids and their parents may feel sad about it. But I think we can’t refuse to help others. Why? First of all, not all strangers are cheaters. Actually, there are few cheaters in our society. Just imagine, what if one day you are in trouble and no one wants to help you? Should we be onlookers (旁觀者) when other people fall down or get injured in front of us? We should learn from the three kids. It isn’t their fault for helping the man. Their problem is that they are unlucky to meet a cheat.
Secondly, helping others is the traditional virtue(美德) of China. We shouldn’t hesitate(猶豫) to help others because of a few negative behaviors. We are educated to offer help to others from childhood. If everyone is afraid of getting in trouble and turns a blind eye to the people in need, the society will become cold and there will be only suspicion(猜疑).
In fact, helping others is helping ourselves. There is an old saying in China, “One good turn deserves another.” It means rewards will first come to the nice guys who are good persons a and keep helping others.

Helping Each Other Makes the World Wonderful
In our life, we often help others, and also get help from others. When we help our classmates, we will develop our friendship. When we help some old people, we will feel happy. I think giving is better than receiving. And I think helping others is helping ourselves.
I still remember my teacher asked me to help Mike with his math months ago. At first, I felt a little nervous because I was not so good at math. So, before helping him, I went over the textbook over and over again and did lots of exercises. To my surprise, some difficult problems that I couldn’t understand before were worked out by myself. With my help, Mike made great progress in math, too. Then, I realize that helping others also does good to ourselves. Helping each other makes the world wonderful.
In a word, I hope everyone can take an active part in helping others. Let’s make our world filled with love together.
