Yur best friend that fllws yu arund when the sun cmes ut - yur shadw - desn’t serve an imprtant functin like yur heart r brain, but what if yu culd use shadws t create electricity? When using slar panels (電池板) that are pwered by light, shadws can be bring because it means electricity can’t be created. Hwever, researchers frm the Natinal University f Singapre have engineered a way t create pwer frm the shadws present everywhere.
A team f the university created a machine that can cllect energy frm shadws. It is created by placing a thin cating f gld nt silicn (硅). Like in a nrmal slar panel, when put in light, the silicn electrns (電子) becme energized and the energized electrns then jump frm the silicn t the gld. The vltage (電壓) f the part f the machine that is placed in the light increases relative t the dark part and the electrns in the machine flw frm high t lw vltage. They are sent thrugh an external circuit (外電路) creating a current that can be used t pwer anther machine. The greater the cntrast between light and dark, mre energy is prvided by the machine.
The team is wrking n imprving the perfrmance f the machine, brrwing appraches frm slar panels t gather light. Increasing the amunt f light the machines can receive allws them t better make use f shadws, as well as develping shadw energy cllecting panels that can successfully gather frm indr lighting. The team is als researching the use f ther materials ther than gld t drp the price f the machine, meaning they wuld be mre cst effective and easier t apply in sciety.
Shadws are present everywhere and perhaps ne day in the future we will be able t cllect energy frm them by placing the shadw-effect energy machine arund the wrld in places that have been cnsidered unfit fr slar panels t wrk, r indrs. “A lt f peple think that shadws are useless,” Tan says, but “anything can be useful, even shadws.”

B.The gld prduces pwer with the help f the silicn.
C.The energized electrns flw frm high t lw vltage.
D.An external circuit creates current using anther machine.
6.Hw des the team imprve the perfrmance f the machine?
A.Using slar panels in the machine.
B.Increasing the amunt f light received.
C.Develping light energy cllecting panels.
D.Bringing dwn the price f gld.
7.Which f the fllwing is the best place t apply the machine?
