After learning abut the fcused grammar item students are asked t discver useful structures and d the restrictive and nn-restrictive attributive clause exercises.

1. Warming up by learning abut tips t build English vcabulary
Feeling difficult trying t memrize s many vcabulary wrds? It desn't need t be a hard task! Check ut these practical pinters that can help yu build yur wrd pwer!
2. Discvering useful wrds and expressins
Please turn t page 3. D exercises 1, 2 and 3. Please check yur answers against yur classmates’.
3. Learning abut restrictive & nn restrictive clauses
D the fllwing pairs f sentences mean the same thing?

The first sentence in each pair has a nn-restrictive clause within tw cmmas, and the secnd has a restrictive clause. A nn-restrictive clause simply adds mre infrmatin int the sentence and des nt affect the meaning f the main clause: it is therefre bracketed ff with cmmas (1a = an uncle wh happens t live in Lndn). Cnversely, a restrictive clause defines its referent in the main clause mre specifically and cntributes significantly t the meaning f the sentence. Thus it is that particular uncle wh lives in Lndn wh is referred t (1b). In 2a, all plicies were unppular and all were rejected, whereas in 2b nly the plicies that were unppular were rejected. Nte that in restrictive clauses the nn-human relative prnun is either ‘that’ r ‘which’, whereas fr human referents the relative prnun can be either ‘wh/m’ r ‘that’ (the man that/whm I will marry ).

Draw: Expse the artist in yu by drawing pictures related t the wrds yu study. Yur drawings can help trigger yur memry in the future.
Act: Get yur mves n by acting ut wrds and expressins yu learn. Or, imagine and act ut a situatin where yu wuld need t use them.
Create: Design flashcards in English and study them in yur spare time. Each week make new nes, but cntinue t review all f them.
Assciate: Assign different clrs t different wrds. This assciatin will help yu recall vcabulary later.
Listen: Think abut ther wrds which sund similar t the wrds yu're learning, especially cmplex wrds. Assciate the ther wrds with this new wrd t help yu remember the prnunciatin.
Chse: Remember that tpics that interest yu will be easier t learn. Therefre, carefully select wrds that yu will find useful r interesting. Even the prcess f making the chice is a memry aid!
Limit: Dn't try t memrize the dictinary in a day! Limit yurself t 15 wrds per day, and yu'll gain cnfidence instead f feeling verwhelmed.
