Step 1. Free talk
First, teacher picks up sme things frm the students and asks:
What is it in English?
Which pen is yurs?
Wh ften buys statinary fr yu?
Whse eraser is white?
When d yu need t use a pencil?
It’s such a lng ruler, where can yu put it, in the pencil case r in the schlbag?
Why is this pen s special? It lks funny , where did yu get it?
Hw can I use this tap crrectly? Wh can help me?
Shw these sentences with wh-questin wrds. Ask students t talk abut these questin wrds’ meaning , then shw the table n page 61. Lead Ss t read it and try t under the questin wrds’ meaning and usage. Next , shw the summary f usage f these wh-questins.
Step 2. Practice
The teacher says: Millie is a gd girl. She lves t ask questins. D yu lve t ask questins? I think everyne shuld lve t ask questins in English. Then yu’ll be better at yur English. Ask students t lk at these pictures and help her fill the blank.
Shw a picture f Part B and ask:
What is he eating? Teach the new wrd “rice dumpling”.
Wh can make rice dumplings in yur family? Teach the new wrd “grandparents”.
When d we eat rice dumplings?
What ther things d we d at Dragn Bat Festival? Teach the new wrd “ther”.
Teacher says: Millie als has sme questins abut festivals. What are they? Let’s cmplete Part B.
Amy’s birthday is cming, Millie wants t g t the party. S she asks Amy abut the birthday party. Ask Ss t cmplete Part C.
Check the answers and ask Ss t act the cnversatin.
Step 3. Activity
Shw eight questins n the blackbard:
When is yur birthday ?
Hw are yu ging t celebrate yur birthday?
What d yu d fr yur birthday?
What time is the birthday party ging t start?
Where are yu ging t have the party?
Which is yur favrite fd?
Wh will sing at the party?
Why dn’t yu ask yur teacher t cme t the party?
Ask students t make dialgues in grups and use five questins f them at least.
Step4. Hmewrk
Revise the usage f wh-questins .
Make dialgues with wh-questins.
