一、合成法 將兩個或兩個以上獨立且語義不同的的單詞合在一起構(gòu)成新詞的方法叫做合成法。如：afternn、kind-hearted、maybe 等等。掌握合成法有助于我們理解和記憶更多單詞。
在一個單詞前或后加上一個詞綴，就可以構(gòu)成一個新詞，這種方法叫做派生法。根據(jù)詞綴的位置，分為前綴和后綴兩種。掌握一些常見的詞綴，對單詞的記憶和理解有很大的幫助。比如：我們學(xué)會care, 就能掌握careful, careless, carefully, carelessly。下面我們來學(xué)習(xí)幾個常見的前、后綴：
1. 表示否定意義 “無，不”的前綴：
impatient, impssible
un -in -dis -im -nn-
unable, unhappy
inexpensive, indecisin
disagree, dislike
2. 表示 “再”的前綴：
rewrite, reuse, recycle
3. 表示 “錯誤地”的前綴：
mislead , misunderstand
4. 表示 “在……之間，相互”意思的前綴：
inter- 表示“在……之間，相互”：Internet
–able表示“可能，易于，適合于”， 構(gòu)成形容詞，如：renewable, eatable(可吃的)，enjyable
2. –ful表示“充滿……的，具有……性的”， 構(gòu)成 形容詞，如：helpful, hpeful, pwerful , useful, careful, beautiful
3. –less 與-ful 相反，表示“少的，不足的”，構(gòu)成 形容詞，如：helpless, hpeless, pwerless, useless, careless

英語構(gòu)詞法中把一種詞性用作另一種詞性而詞形不變的方法叫做轉(zhuǎn)換法。
